Last night I hooked up my hard drive to one of those vantec hard drive to usb adaptors so I could transfer some data. My cat came running under the table pulling the power cord and knocking the hard drive to the carpeted floor. Everything turned off so I figured it was just disconnected since it didn't hit too hard, put it back on the table and went to bed. In the morning I got up and plugged it in. Windows doesn't recognize the drive and it doesn't seem to be spinning up. It sounds like the actuator might be trying to move but the platters are definitely not spinning.

1. logic board fried?
2. stuck platters?
3. anyway to fix?

the pcb prbably gott borked. get a set of torx wrenches and take it off and see if any chips are missing or there is physical damage. hdd's usuall dont just stop spinning so maybe one of the ribbons came unplugged. you will void your warranty. but its very inforamive
