tatty please help, Can't see vrm voltage on riva monitor. Followed instuction carefully. Riva is working fine just no voltage tweak

No go on vcore tweaking with 2.24 riva. Tried everything but the right thing!
Any suggestions.


Edit: GOT IT GOING. but cant get a stable core above 1050 with one test in vantage. tried 1.4125 - 1.45

Once you get it going, are you keeping rivatuner active in the taskbar? Also if that dont work try ....

a. disabling catalyst Ai in CCC

and if that dont work.....

b. End the CCC process in taskmanager.

just to narrow done the possibilities, we can take it from there.

I completely removed ATI driver/CCC and then reinstalled drivers only. If I Set riva to 1.425 the mearsured is 1.42 or 1.425 which indicates the core is seeing the bump but still unstable at 1050. DDR5 is set to 1050. Do I need to load ATI's full software suit and make sure overdrive is disabled? Yes, riva is running in the background. Thanks in advance.

Are you using rivatuner to overclock?

Are you still having problems? I have an alrernative rivatuner method that is more complex but may well do the job..... there are actually a number of ways you can do it thru rivatuner.

still having problems. seems that vcore truly increases but higher clocks are not stable. 1050 core and 1.425 was better over stock (1.4) but not stable. Thanks

thats going to be seriousley bottlenecked with your lowly e4300 @ 2ghz get a cpu first or oc it to at least 3ghz

Nah. The gpu is infinitely more important. The 4890 will smoke his 1950. He definitely needs to worry about the gpu before buying a new cpu, although I agree clocking his cpu more can't hurt, in modern games, the gpu is most likely to be the bottleneck.

In older, less intensive games, the cpu may be the bottleneck, but they are already running at such high framerates, that you wouldn't be able to perceive the difference anyway.

I can't go anywhere clocks wise on this mobo, I have another mobo laying around waiting to be used but it's PCI-e only, so once I get a PCI-e card I can use my Asus mobo which I can then use to overclock higher and will allow me to use more than 2GB RAM

ah ok, i still think it will be severley bottle necked, most you can hope for with the e4300 is about 3.2ghz although some will do 3.4-3.6 ish

Still that will be better than 2.0ghz

Well after a couple weeks playing Crysis, Farcry2 and others I found that 1025 MHz core and 1150 memory speed is rock solid with the 4890 Toxic. Also 3D Vantage. 60% fan speed which is quite. Cooling is key as I could get to 1040 core at 85% fan.

Very nice, I take it you gave up trying the volts, I do think it's a bit hit and miss with each card.

Yeah, I just love the cooler, it's been red hot here this last week and very humid, near 30C with high humidity and playing games my fanspeed does not go above 50%.

It's about 85f out here and im running about 49c Idle and 70c full load now.

Manual fan set to 65% at load
Fan is set to auto at idle.

Running Strong. Cant wait for the 5800 series
