Anymore details on the powercolor? I am a little reserved on the power color brand as I purchased a 4870 1G that had the flicker problem. Had to return it back to newegg and also lost 15% due to their return policy, It was clearly a powercolor issue. I havent wrote them off completely though.

Mine did the same thing. I just flashed the BIOS to not lower the mem speed. They goofed the 2d clocks mem speeds transition.

Don't all RV770/790 based cards flicker for a fraction of a second when memory clock is changed, even 1MHz?
And since lowering memory from 975MHz to 200MHz cuts 35W out of the card's idle power consumption who cares about some flicker...

The powercolor 4870 1G Overclocked version flickered continously above the default settings if you dropped mem. speed flicker would disappear.

It seems that powercolor gets less than steller reviews on newegg. I am watching both the Saph. vaporx and powercolor OC'ed 4890's.

Hi..

Does anyone know what the plan is with the 1ghz Radeon's? Not sure if I should wait or pull the trigger on one at NewEgg.

Any paticular reason for picking XFX over the other brands?

I've been tempted to purchase the Powercolor watercooled edition, however the reviews on NewEgg aren't positive enough.

Any major difference using the Super ML caps like Asus on the card?

Hah!
PowerColor's media report about PCS++ HD4890:
“The overclocking ability of this card is second to none,” said Ted Chen, CEO of TUL Corporation
Right-o. I bet a chocolate cookie it won't budge even 5% higher than stock 1010MHz, no matter the voltage, whereas reference clocked cards go >15%.

^Errr?
Don't all RV770/790 based cards flicker for a fraction of a second when memory clock is changed, even 1MHz?
And since lowering memory from 975MHz to 200MHz cuts 35W out of the card's idle power consumption who cares about some flicker...

It was particularly bad on this Powercolor. It wasn't just a small flicker. It was very, VERY noticeable, and happened constantly. It was constantly switching between 2D and 3D on the mem, for no particular reason.

And clocking the mem to 3D speeds kills the flicker, who the hell cares about those 35W? lol.
