Mine did not unlock either. I attempted it w/ prezi bios.
I have a ASUS 6950 1GB DC2 I just acquired. I attempted flash w/ ATIwinflash, it was successful...verified new BIOS actually was installed successfully by extracting it w/ gpuz and looking at it in RBE to see the 6950->6970 mod enabled, but the card still shows only 1408 shaders in gpuz. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling catalyst drivers. No change =(...guess mine is laser locked. It sucks too cuz my card is only stable up to 890mhz core.

Is there any way to vmod the bios?

Agreed... hate it too... I would love to see the support built in e.g. ATT or Rivatuner....
With ATT I actually am able to undervolt, but not overvolt...
