Basically i think for what it is its a bit slow.

I've been looking and comparing 3dmark 06 scores with systems that are similar to my pc and everybody seems to get from 2000 to 4000 higher than me.

I've attatched a screenshot of everything that i think you need to see.

Any advise or suggestions would be most welcome!

What is your PCIe lane running at? 1X,2X,4X,8X, or 16X? o.o nvm. Its running at 16X, can see it in GPU-Z. What drivers do you have? I suggest doing, CCleaner, Cleaning up registry with some software, defrag drive..

looks about right, nothing wrong, if you feel that its a little slow (not looking at 3dmark) then try defragging your hdd and running hdtach to check your hdd speed

up that CPU clock if you can. work on getting them timings tighter or the ram running faster. Overclock the card more if you can... Some people aren't like me and push everything to the max but there are alot that are... idk how much higher your stuff can get if any... If it is your max OC on everything then sorry i wasted your time.
get tweaked drivers and try them.up the PCI-E to 110 and see if that helps any. I don't think it will but it is worth a try even if you only get a few points.

Spearman i have the latest Forceware drivers from NVidia.

And panchoman i'll try your suggestion. Thanks.

It just seems that compared to other computers with the same hardware that mine is really quite a lot slower!

yeah, with that Proc and video card you are going to get low scores like that. I have the 5200+ and an 8800GTS 640mb and i get like 9392 in 3Dmark06.

    easy solutions!

Firstly: what res is that 06 run at? 1280x1024 is the default, and what you should compare to others with.

check the NV drivers for a few things (global settings, and 3dmarks profile)
    Vsync (off)
    Antialiasing (off/application select)
    Anisotropic filtering (off/application select)
quality: Nvidias default is "quality" and not "high quality"

Something definitely looks off, my old 8600GTS would crank out 6K easy with my Brisbane at 2.8GHZ. Driver cleaner, defrag, background programs, something.

Took the cpu up to 2.9ghz even managed to match your overclock on the video card hat and still i couldn't break 5k.

I think i must have bought a duff system!

sometime vista can kinda be dumb. If you can dual boot with xp x64. I always getting better scores with xp. Vista x64 I never can break 11,288. But with xp, I can hit 11,795 easy, at the same specs.

The Crow, I can get the same score with my X2 4200+ @ 2.5 GHz and a 7800GT. The 8600GTS should be doing more...

the differance isnt that extreme now for some reason...but with an 8600 it may take more off because its a dated card though i could be talking out of my ass im not sure what i just typed.

I think my motherboard must be sh*t or my ram. They are relatively cheap so maybe not the best in terms of speed.
