perhaps you could swap the card into another system and see if the results are the same.

he is wc'ing, he would need to remove the cooling and place de stock. Lots of trouble.

yeah WC is my problem . but i am here now, i will try to install the card on another mobo/cpu/ram that i have installed here it won't be ez! but i don't want to RMA an unlockable 6950 and get a locked 6950 :(

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the 11.2 drive give me same weird square. i bought battlefield bad company 2 on steam for 9$ i think, and it also do it.

i really find those square weird i never saw that kind of thing with busted cards. and also they always take 2 minute before they start showing and going and coming back ..

today i was thinking about this, my MTB/RAM is like 3 or 4 year old always been at 400MHZ i don't know if this problem could be related to the p45 chipset starting to give up or trace on MTB losing conductivity ...

I'd rather put up with a locked 6950 than no card at all. RMA it before your burn it and can't get an rma due to possible physical damage.

Generally I have experienced artifacts when overclocking ATi/AMD cards, and checkerboards are usually ram related. Perhaps you might consider taking the block off and checking the thermal contact pads. It might not be the same for all brands, but every now and then some bad thermal pads make it through QC and upon sustained high temps shrink and harden. I saw it on my previous HD5970 (wont say which company provided the thermal pads), and it was as simple as a visual inspection/replacement.
