Hi, new to forums so forgive me if this is wrong area. Also I know I can build my own PC for pretty cheap but I want to start somewhere so I was wondering if this is pretty good. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BDAYIYO/?tag=tec06d-20

I would of course add onto it but I was wondering if this is enough to play skyrim or even fallout 4. I'll even go low graphics.

$700 U.S. is a lot of money for parts, especially unknown parts.
The 970 chipset is old tech already, the GPU is worse than a GTX750Ti that has been out for a while, PSU most likely dodgy and the cheapest they can find.
I would want to know exactly what is in the box for that kind of money.

Hi and welcome to TPU xd.

I made that same mistake in 2002 with my first pc , never again buying an already done pc.

You can build it yourself if you search for good deals and if is not a problem going with used stuff too .

Avoid this PC. Old Processor, mid range GPU, and neither of them are really that great in this day and age. The price tag is above what you should be paying for this CPU/GPU combo even with mediocre other components.

Basically for this price, if you wait for good deals, you can assemble your own system that is easily 20-40% faster AND probably also has higher quality components.

Also:
- this case will be a plastic piece of junk, noisy, and inconvenient for upgrading
- the power supply is likely a cheap OEM part that is not capable of handling a future GPU upgrade
- 16 GB DDR3 is double of what you'd want in this price range, so that's at least 40-50 $ thrown in the bin

Don't bother with it - the others have given you good advice. Always best to build your own with quality parts.

Choosing the components and fitting them to your budget is what TPU is great for.

Not even a good low end PC. You asked if it is great. No

Where do you live and what's your budget

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
This is what i would probably go for with that type of price range: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Ljzz8d
Not bad, but might not have the bling he wants from a gamer machine.
Picking up a CPU and Motherboard combo might make it a bit cheaper too.
well ... my Alpha use a i3-4130T (lower consumption type but has also HT like the 6100) and a GT860M (GTX 750TI once clocked back) and 8gb 1600 (and cost under 700$ also ) i have yet to see one of my game being unplayable on that one ... even Skyrim with a heavy ENB all detail at max and just HD textures disabled
and that one would have a 380X ... so a notch above my own "HTPC" which, as i said, can play nearly anything (ok i have to lower settings on some games but some eyecandy settings just do ... nothings, still: skyrim is gorgeous on it, and i bet i could run Fallout 4 easily on it )

I agree an i3 is very capable, I built a gaming system for my son much the same, gtx 750ti included.

avoid that piece of crap...
assuming you are in USA: here is another option!
new generation intel i3 processor are pretty capable of gaming, decent ram and also great video card for the same money you were about to waste on a shitty rig...

"Great?" Absolutely not. "Enough to play?" I can only answer for Skyrim (because I have it and an R7 360) and at 1440x900, yes. Fallout 4? I don't know.

Where I live most stores have an "assemble" option at check out which adds €40-€70 (depending on store and whether they install an OS or not) and they assemble it for you. It's probably the best way to do it if you don't want to build yourself, if you have access to such a store that also has reasonable prices. This is when it gets interesting to buy locally.
