Yea a few months ago there was a news thing here that said they were starting to move into high end territory. Like I said in the ECS thread about the same thing, the more good board makers there are the better!

    X48 24-pin placement = fail.

Look at Foxconn. They're coming out with some sick mobo's, and they were never an enthusiast company.

And I agree. The 780a looks very good. The X48 must not be an OCing board judging by the cooling. Makes no sense to me why they would make it an X48 (higher-binned chips).

That am2 board has a really really nice layout it looks as though it was made for the xigmatek hdt-s 1283 cooler especially the heatpipe placement for the bridge and capacitor location would work great with the spoiler. The vcore from the manual pic appears to go to 1.53v also.

The intel one has a poor layout if you have a double wide video card as it might hit the heatsink in the back also running the mobo power cable is going to be in the way like devil said.

I do however think it is great that more people are getting into the higher end board category maybe it will make asus make even better boards lol.

    ROFL, a lane-bypass card on a 780a

And they use the same NB heatsink on the X48 which they probably used on those old 945P boards.

I like the ASROCK brand for two reasons:

1./ Budget mainboards for those on a tight budget... friends of the poor

2./ Innovative mainboards for those on a bigger budget but want to break the rules.

    #2, thats me. AGP 3850 Q6600 2GB DDR1 :)

Who ever decided on the location of the 24pin connector on the X48 board should be shot and then shot some more.

Other than that they look like ok boards.
