    Funny, my family calls them torches. At least my mother does, not sure about my dad since he isn't from the UK.

    *...and yes, I totally wasn't thinking about flashlights. lol.

    Once upon a time, in a very far away place, there wasn't electricity, and they used this thing, called fire, to light their way. They held this thing, this fire, on a stick, and hence the torch was born.

    I like when I need to use google translate, babelfish, thesaurus or urban dictionary to get colloquialism I'm not familiar with. That means I'll learn something new. You see, your native language does not have same international status as my native language.

    I know this! But a torch is FIRE on A FUCKING STICK! A flashlight is and always has been a battery operated light source.
