    Hey everyone,

I just snagged a Sceptre X226W-1920 1920*1080 LCD monitor off Newegg tonight for $119.99 ($60 off regular price) + free shipping, to replace my almost 4 year old Samsung SyncMaster 940BW 19" 1440*900 monitor.

Hopefully it should be a nice step up from my current monitor. :)

I was impressed going from a 19" 1440x900 Acer to a 22" 1680x1050 Acer, and once again going to a 24" 1920x1080 Asus. You'll be happy with the upgrade, especially for that price. I snagged my Asus about 1/2 off on Newegg Open Box, though I could find no proof anywhere that the box had ever been opened or the contests handled since the original packaging. I don't know Scepter too well, but I've seen their products out there, I'm sure you'll be quite happy.

Yeah, I've seen the Sceptre brand on Newegg for quite a while and it seems like a fairly good brand. I figured it was an awesome price for a monitor of that resolution, and I didn't want something too much larger than my current monitor. Also, my current monitor is getting a little bit old, and even though it is a 5ms panel, it was only 1440*900. Plus, my Samsung monitor has developed a weird whitish line during the last month that doesn't appear to be busted lines of pixels, but it only goes about 1/3 of the way horizontally across the screen (from the right), isn't that thick or well defined, and almost completely faded away after leaving the screen off for the last few days. It happens on both inputs. Also, there is a slightly darker little "blob" near the center of the screen, and if you press on the screen a few inches away in that general area, the part where you push distorts as well as the small "blob". So, I figured I would get a new monitor. :)

I wouldn't upgrade to anything but a 23" from where I'm at now, but for that price that is a very nice deal.

Looks like you got a great price. Hopefully it all works out to your liking. You will wonder how you ever got along with 1440x900, I sure was when I moved from that res to my Samsung 23" @ 2048x1152.

I sit about 2ft away from my 19" monitor and it seems fine to me, so I figured just a slight upgrade in size (although at a different aspect ratio) and a good upgrade in resolution would be fine for me. I'm a fan of smaller pixels vs. a huge screen (I love my LG EnV Touch's 800*480 2.5" screen vs. my iPod touch's 480*320 3.5" screen). Plus, the price was nice since I am a college student and money is a bit tight.

I am kind of unhappy with UPS right now. I ordered on 11/30, they supposedly shipped it on 12/1 and now the projected delivery date is 12/7, and this is with UPS 3 Day Select. The $800 of parts that my dad ordered 2 hours later for my mom's computer were delivered today to my hometown about 150 miles south of my college residence.

Well, the monitor is supposed to arrive tomorrow, thanks to UPS being crappy. Hopefully it is in once piece, seeing how UPS usually treats my stuff.

just be glad the mail man isn't stealing your gamefly games.

the one on my sh*t list is Fedex... I built a system for someone and shipped it to them. It had a lot of damage... so much in fact that the heat sink managed to come off the mobo... and they didn't honor the insurance. Luckily the main components were ok and i was able to se the stock intel cooler
