K, sorry if this is a noob question. But I just got a 250G Samsung 840EVO SSD and installed BF4 on it.

When loading into games they are still taking anywhere from 30s to 1m 30 seconds to load still. I ran the optimization thing in Samsung magician.

I was able to load into 2-3 games within like 10-20 seconds, but sometimes its still taking longer.

Do I have to like load into the maps once before they load quickly or something?

Any ideas?

Yeah loading times are taking like 1-2mins when I launch directly from the browser .... something must not be right.

i r nub

If you're talking about online multiplayer an SSD won't help you. You still have to wait for the rest of the players.

If the games in play it doesn't matter. Load time should be about 30 sec. Platter drives was like forever for me

So I have to ask BF4 and the OS are on the SSD right? Did you follow any SSD set up guide?

Well it took about 1m 30s to get into the game I am currently in, and I am going on 3m+ for the next map. - game crashed i guess, had to close it.

Perhaps something to do with Origin being on my HD and the game on the SSD?

I was reading maybe you can change the registry locations or something? But they looked ok to me. Not sure though.

-BF4 hasnt been working well for me lately.

Ill test the load times on singe player

Why would you put Origin on the platter drive?

And did you clone the drive to the SSD?

I have had Origin on the HD... i just got the SSD today.

Do I need to install Origin on the SSD along with the game?

My intention was to only install Games to load faster and maybe some programs. Possibly swap my OS down the road maybe.

so maybe its a BF4 online only thing or something?

Campaign missions seem to load in 10-15 seconds. tried 4 different missions.

K.... I guess its an intermittent thing with some BF4 servers.

But I tried out a few more BF4 servers of different player sizes and it seems to be working. 10-25 second loading times.

Sorry about that, and thanks for the replies

^ This. It sounds like you just added the SSD and installed one game to it. Besides the game itself, a million other things are loading for that game to work. In this case, all of those are still coming from your HDD.

Clean install of Windows, Samsung Magician, all necessary runtimes and eventually Origin/BF4 should make all the difference.

1. BF4 is still an unoptimized pig and is a horrible way to benchmark an SSD
2. The OS NEEEEEEDS to be on the SSD or ur just wasting ur time.

I am using chrome btw....

I did a fresh install of windows onto the SSD. Updated all drivers.

Just curious... what should I set the settings for the SSD to in Samsung Magician? Maximum Performance I am assuming for OS Optimization?

Still have to reinstall some games and some other things. DX9/11... and some game stuff. The OS seems to boot noticeably quicker tho.

Was also just curious what this RAPID mode is, (Real Time Acceleration Processing of I/O Data) and if it should be enabled or disabled?

Thanks.

yeah BF4 has straight up terrible loading times for me. I've had to wait over 5 mins to load into a map before. It just seems like terrible loading times is just an issue with some people, I remember a few months ago they said they were going to release a patch to fix it but that doesnt seem to have happened yet

Yeah actually the load times now are down to 10-15 seconds. I guess it depends on the server too. But BF4 is really odd, kinda random performance. Its like somedays ill get 80-110fps, and somedays ill get 50-75.... I don't understand. Like some are saying, game is not optimized well.... and honestly its stupid how the game launches through chrome now, and requires Origin and shit. I miss old games where you could install the content DIRECTLY to your HDD and not have to log into 4 things to be able to play what you bought.... its getting ridiculous.
