That is a royal drag. I'd try to slip it back on and save the RMA time. What a crapper.

    Ouch...

I think with some decent electronics hand work it an be put back in.
Might need some soldering if you ripped a few pins off the board.

First time I have seen that happen. That really does suck.
I wonder if you can RMA the board as it appears to be a defect...

I haven't seen it before either. I would try to RMA for sure, I don't think that is supposed to happen.

You pulled on the locking mechanism and didn't just yank it out, right?

Definitely a defect unless you forcibly removed it and even then I don't see how it was done. :ohwell:

its just an 8x slot with no pins on that broken half, the other half that it's still atached on the mobo (the one that actually have pins) should still work... is it?

If it's wired to 8x and there was nothing there it should be fine. A lot of 8x slots end after the 8th lane and keeps the end of the slot open for cards that take more lanes.

Why are you angry? The slot can't do more than 8 lanes anyways. The only bad part about this is some plastic is missing.

It's a long card, this will add more pressure to the slot, it will affect any kind of resale value of the board and lastly it looks crap lol

I have the same board and I thought about taking the tabs out at one point for this reason cause I have almost done this a time or two.
