Anyway, I honestly cannot see this change being a reason not to go to windows 7. The advantages over vista, even in its beta form are undeniable. Faster boot times, better layout, fantastic toolbar, the list goes on.

UAC is fail. I hate it. So annoying.

UAC is pointless. Your just as safe turning it off as you were without having it on XP.

UAC is very helpful for those people that are not "power" users.

I dont know why everyone harps on it.... it really is a great security feature.... Its weird how everyone rips on UAC yet most linux distros you have to elevate yourself to SU/Sudo....

People need to stop bashing Vista and Microsoft, as currently there is very little wrong with Vista.:shadedshu

:banghead: I for one LIKE being able to just plug in a USB device and it works.....just like millions of other users.

This won't stop USB devices from working, it will just stop programs on those USB devices from running automatically when they are inserted. Same with CD-Rs, DVD-Rs, and hard drives. It just adds the extra step of going into Computer and running the program manually. Not really a big deal...

Though I would also like a confirmation source, or even an article that appears like the writer has at least some grasp of grammar and some care for what they are writing...

Wow, some people did NOT read my post about how AutoRun is NOT AutoPlay. AutoPlay is what you are referring to and it is here to stay.

Yeah, my bad. I read this on the source first and then posted here. I must have disabled autorun, as I only get autoplay. Didn't like autorun on XP days either so it's been 7 years since I last used it :)

So there are malware that copy them selves on a possible USB devise and make an autorun.inf on there? Seems kinda far fetched to get a malware to spread that way (or are people like horny teenagers that stick it to every hole they find ). "Pamela Andersson nude pics" still work better :)

Well yeah duh, if ya were going to write a virus to infect usb drives, what would you do?

UAC has been found to be one of the most secure features of Windows, it's just annoying. I think it just needs more refinement. They took a step in the right direction w/ the levels in 7, but it still isn't there yet. One thing in particular that annoys me is I have to approve evga precision every time upon start-up (it starts my fan faster upon boot). I shouldn't have to do that every time, there should be some way to add start-up programs or other frequently used programs to the mix so you aren't asked all the time.

I was thinking of the same thing with Riva tuner and Vista:)
It actually pisses me off when I need to do something fast:(

Yes, there is malware that does that. And I've actually had it happen to my work USB Drive multiple times. Luckily Vista asks me if I really want to run the program that the autorun file points to before it does it. There are only a few applications where you use autorun from a USB device(U3 devices being one).

That's what I like! I plug it in and it gives me a list of things to chose from/or just runs like I have told it too!

That will not change. As others have pointed out Autoplay =/= Autorun.

This window is Autoplay, and it will still be in Windows:
