The KDE project, which aims to develop a beautiful open-source window manager for *nix, is now sponsored. Both Intel and Novell are funding KDE. Both companies are supporting KDE as patrons, which means they donate €10,000 a year to support the development and maintenance of KDE. Patrons of the project also get to use the fancy K logo on their respective websites.

Someone needs to tell the KDE team that the functionality of a terminal cannot be implemented in a GUI. Stop adding so many darned obscure options >_<

Funding's good though. Intel needs software with features that use/need new processors, hence why they invest so much in software development. It's nice to see that investment going into Free software.

Hear hear -- KDE looks great, but for the average user, it's way too confusing.

Either way, it's cool to see Intel support open-source stuff a little more, though.

It just might be that it's AMD who needs someone backing themselves.
