Next month my rig will be 2 years old. The AM3+ and FM1 platforms make me think I should just get a X6 1100T and a 7xxx card and get another year, or maybe two out of it. I don't want to go Intel. Should I just forget about the X6 1100T altogether?

if i were you id upgrade ya mobo and mem and stick on the processor ,wait for piledriver , ive not seen many phenomII's 6 cores for sale and i doubt a 960T would be much of an upgrade and thats the only phenomII ive seen listed lately.:)

im only sayin mobo and mem because i just swapped from a Q6600 and 1200ddr2 to a phenomII960T and 1840 ddr3 and its smoothed my games out a bit and im ready for next cpu its a smaller step but you can then maybe spend bigger on them bits, or go intel now and get a 2600K or somat

cpu performance is more then it was for me but not much, but mobo and mem did make a bit of a difference plus with better mem and mobo yours may OC higher mine does 4.3 stable (not folding yet tho so ill see bout that soon)

With an 1100T being $199, it would be crazy not to get a 2500K. I know you said "no Intel," but considering I went from a 940 running at 3.6 to a 2500 at 4.4, there is no comparison. I love my old 940, but it doesn't hold a candle to my new chip, neither does the 1100T.

Thx guys. Looks like I should stick with my rig awhile longer. Wait and see what the 7 series AMD cards bring in the $200 range, or get a 2GB 6950 if they drop down to $200.

if your not going to go intel then i would simply wait for piledriver. It should be good enough for gaming on.
