I recently ordered an NZXT Kraken G10 universal GPU cooler bracket to pair with a Corsair H55 I picked up locally, to water cool my EVGA GTX 660 Ti Superclocked+ 3GB. I missed the first wave of shipments in Dec., but should receive mine in January sometime. I was wondering if any TPU members have gotten their hands on one yet, and what kind of results to expect. I saw one review which claimed a 50c reduction in load temps using the G10 and a Kraken X40 cooler, which sounds unbelievable. Are these things really that good?

50°C? I don't believe that for a second.

I'd love to get me a Kraken, but it will take at least a year before they arrive to this banana country :(

If you consider my loop (okay it has 2 x 360 rads - but the fans spin very slow!) runs at 45 degrees on my quite overclocked Titan at 1.2v (with the 3930 at 4.4GHz also in the loop), that's a drop of 40 degrees from the air cooled stock Titan. If I ran my Titan at stock speeds under water in my loop (again, my fans are not running fast at all), my temps stay mid to high 30's.

It's not unreasonable to suggest the Kraken at full speed can knock close to 50 degrees of 'stock' temps. Their own web page suggests a 35 degree drop though.

50C sounds quite possible.. 90 to 40? but it's an unfair comparison if reference is designed to be quiet & only ramp up at a target of 90, it's doing its job correctly, you could increase its fan & the difference will no longer be 50

That's what I've been doing, and that's why my video card is the noisiest component by far (has the reference "squirrel cage" fan). To keep it around 60c I have to set the fan profile to ramp up to max (80%) very quickly; otherwise it runs at 80c. So if the Kraken G10 will let me run at even 60c under full load, I'll be happy, assuming it's quieter (and I'm pretty sure it will be).

nothing wrong with 80... or is it not staying on boost clocks? that's what i hate about all these new boost features from both companies, what's the point of running faster for 5min, give me the same mhz with higher fan speed automatically, 'quiet mode' should be optional
