    I am gonna buy an AGP card for my little brother. He plays most of the new games on my PC :shadedshu I can't upgrade his whole PC so I'm gonna buy him a good price/performance AGP video card. Help me choose please;

    Leadtek A7600GS 256MB GDDR2

    Sapphire x1650Pro 256MB GDDR3
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102057

    Leadtek A7600GT 256MB GDDR3
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122009

I wanted to buy a A7600GT but it was always too late before it went out of stock. Maybe you got any other link to an online store for this card? So If I cant find any other store selling A7600GT, I have to go with one of the others. Help me choose :)

arent X800's/x850's cheaper? ive heard an x800/x850 series (with 16 pipes, like the xt or xt pe) is the same performance as 7600/x1650 series, and also cheaper :)

i guess it comes down to whether your bro wants HDR and all the lighting and stuff. if he does, get the 7600/x1650 (SM3.0). if he rathers higher FPS and less lighting, like me :D (i find the lighting annoying :p) go X800/x850 series (SM2.0)

Yeah, I would reccomend the X850XT. So there is no HDR, big whoop, it's not that great anyway.

X800/X850 XT or XT PE any day of the week, i have a 6800 and a X1600 and im mates X850XT kills my cards. SM3.0 is for HDR and not really required with direct x 9 games, DX10 with take advantage of this technology and for that you need a DX10 card so the X800/X8500 all the way

I would say the X1650 for Avio, and SM 3.0. The X1650 pro is the old X1600XT by the way.

If SM3 doesn't matter to you, get the x800GTO card. Great card and a high percentage of them can be unlocked and overclocked to x850PE speeds and pipes.

If SM3 matters, then get exactly what DaMulta said. The x1650 is a decent choice as well.

I fried my x1600pro AGP, and went and bought a x800xt. I have to say they almost run at the same speeds, but I miss HDR in Oblivion.

Thanks for the replies. I did not mention any specifications like SM3.0,HDR,AVivo etc.. Well, I don't want an old series card (x8xx - non SM3.0), I want decent graphics quality, some overclocking ability, compatibility with new games blabla... I heard some rumour that the x1650pro is just a renamed x1600xt but there seems to be no other choice. I am gonna give a try to the GDDR3 one from Sapphire.

I'd reccomend the X1650 if you're looking for long-term reliability with nice performance, and the 7600GT if you're looking for Nvidia/the most performance. I understand why you don't want anything less then SM2, but you seriously won't notice the difference unless you have another SM3 card in a different computer in your house. The topic has been debated before ;).

    i'd have to say 7600gt,mine does 650mhz core and 1620mhz mem,theres the overclockability.and 3669 on 3d 06,96000 on aqua,15000 on 3d 03 and 6800 on 3d 05,so theres the performance.

7800GS is expensive for the performance it provides, I believe. In most game benches it does ~5% more and its about 45% more expensive than the 7600GT. I'm going for the x1650pro cuz I can't find any 7600GT AGP up on an online-store (its always out of stock on newegg). :banghead:

x1650,its basically a tweaked x1600xt, and will give your agp some future compatability and should run vistas Aero glass feature if your other hardware is up to spec.

fleabay the old mobo and buy some drinks

i know you never said you were going to get teh 7800gs, but that's what it amounts to

7600gt is a nice card in agp tho

    7600GT AGP > X800XT AGP > 1650 AGP < X800GTO R480 (Pci-e)

    X800XT best bang/buck/reliability but SM 2.0

7600GT great performance SM.3.0 but its overpriced for AGP

1650 unreliable/weak/ and ATI should do something w/ their mid range cards

X800GTO OC like heaven and runs like hell

the x1650xt is better then a x1800gto duh and kills a x850xt the x1650xt has 8 piplines and 24 shader piplines and the pro has 4 piplines and 12 shader piplines so the x1650xt iwill beat eny x800 card and my x1600xt gets over 6 k on 3Dmark 05 and a x850 overclocked with no mods only gets 6500 thats only 500 def and its more $

There is a big difference between the X1650 Pro and X1650 XT, the X1650 Pro has the exact same core as the X1600XT/Pro just clocked a tad bit higher (still blows chunks).
