The free 24-hour trial of Left 4 Dead (PC) is being extended through the night. The free trial includes access to the recently released Survival Pack DLC, which introduced a new multiplayer game mode and two additional Versus campaigns. Those who wish to give L4D and the Survival Pack a free try now have until Saturday at 5 pm GMT, with no obligation to purchase. Those who decide to purchase the full product and do so this weekend will save 40% off the regular price. For more information, please visit Steam Games

Survival Mode: USUALLY (not everyone does this, just most) camping in a corner somewhere and killing unending waves of infected until you die or become bored and ragequit. Also includes a friends' only leader board for all the e-peen enthusiasts out there

Plus the two other campaign maps Dead Air and Death Toll are included into Versus mode. I'd also assume multiple game fixes lol.

You could just buy it retail, I did when it first came out. It cost like $90AUS compared to like the $60AUS it was on steam at the time, but I didn't really care. Having the disks does equal faster installs though, unless you've got 10MB/s net or faster lol. Also a Visa card works for buying games off steam.

Doesn't take me long to download content from Steam. I generally get like 1.5 Megabytes/sec or more. That being said, you know you can backup your games to DVD in case you ever need to reinstall.
