Electronics company LG has announced the launch of Flatron W2252TE, the world's most energy-efficient monitor. 22-inch in size, the widescreen W2252TE claims to offer a 45% reduction in power consumption, saving around 40 watts compared to other monitors that share the same size. The screen has a wide native resolution of 1680x1050, 2ms response time, a 170° viewing angle, a brightness rated at 250cdm² and a contrast ratio of 10,000:1. "The W2252TE gives consumers the chance to work, play games, watch movies or surf the internet, safe in the knowledge that they are doing as much as possible to help reduce their impact on the environment" Fiona Landsberg, marketing manager of LG Electronics says. The LG Flatron W2252TE is expected to be available in the UK first, starting from August 2008. Pricing information is unavailable.

Why would I buy this over a Delll 2005FPW? I can see businesses liking the idea behind something like this but I'm not sure consumers actually care...

If this offers something like 2 ms response time and I could choose between this and a comparable monitor, I'd take it. The cost of living is going up everywhere. If I can save a few bucks here and there, I'd do it. It's also for the environment after all.

Note: In the original post, they do mention a 2 ms response time...
HTC, Exceededgoku and malware say thanks.

That monitor looks horrible. Why do they have to ruin it by having such a rank design?

Screw that, I can regulate how I use my own monitor and system. I'd rather have something that looks nice with power management that I can control, than something that does the exactly the samething albeit slightly better, but looks like something a 4 year old drew.

4 years are damn creative but most of their drawings suck!

Thinking of it a think a 4 year olds design would be pretty cool.
