At the IFA event in Berlin, LG introduced four new LED-backlit monitors with IPS technology, of which one is intended to be of professional-grade. The LG IPS2062T, IPS226V, IPS236V and IPS231P are sized at 20”, 21.5”, 23” and 23”, respectively. With the exception of the IPS2062T (which has a resolution of 1600 x 900), all are full-HD (1920 x 1080) ready. All four models have dynamic contrast ratios rated at 5,000,000:1; brightness of 250 cd/m²; and response time of 6 ms. Maximum viewing angles measure at 178°/178°.

While the IPS2062T takes in DVI and D-Sub inputs, IPS226V, IPS236V take DVI, D-Sub and HDMI, the IPS231P lacks HDMI, but has stereo speakers and takes audio in. Another feature that sets the IPS231P apart from the other models is its stand that allows you to adjust its height (by up to 11 cm), tilt, swivel, pivot. LG did not give out pricing and availability details.

It's nice to see better panels coming into the market. Lack of price is still annoying.

Look to be 50~100% more expensive than it's TN equivalent panel but they are a much better panel contrast color and response times are way better

    The phrase
is about 5 years out of date. Personally, IMO, the marketing department shouldnt be paid salaries for just pasting old copy.

And 1920 x 1080 might be OK for entertainment, but for productivity it is very poor. Whatever happened to 1200, 1440 and 1600 in the "y". All this consumer cheapskate is making me look at Apple Cinema screens which I really dont want to do!

I'm just glad to see another IPS panel on the market. All I ever see is stuff on TN panels and this one looks really good. If you really want the 1200 in the y, one phrase comes to mind. "DUDE, ur gettin a Dell!" ;)

Breaking News: Apple Cinema displays are 16:9 aspect ratio, too.

Like to see more non TN with LED backlight. Also nice desing, LG, but response time of 6 ms doesn't look good...

I'd have to mess with these in person to see how much the response time bothered me, if it's ok then IPS226V is the one for me.

they should start with 2048x1152 xD Should be easier for the movie industry... commonly referred to as 2K for that screen resolution... and if it is marketed as a 2K screen  people will think it is twice as better while its a tiny bit better only lol

Love seeing the IPS panels but they need to move away from the DC value and go with the true CR value. Price should be between 250 - 400 or so.

LG has become much better than a few years back I find, I don't mean just in their panels

breaking news: as i've been saying for months to die hard fans, everything not 16:9 has died off. standards have merged, 16:9 won.

Which is extremely unfortunate. I can understand 16:9 at the pure consumer level, but Pro and prosumer should still be 16:10. You can still get some 1920x1200 monitors out there tho.

Most likely same panels, with different control electronics and casings.
