Logitec (not to be confused with Logitech), is releasing a new series of compact external DVD writer drives, under the LDR-PME8U2V series. Included under this, are red and black colored variants. The unit measures 136.5×143×19.2 mm, weighing around 300 g. Single-layer DVD±R and DVD+RW discs are written at 8x and double-layer discs at 6x. The drive uses just a single USB 2.0 cable for both data and power. It is scheduled to release in Japan soon, priced at ¥9,600 (US $116).

Nah, Logitec has been in Japan for a much longer time than Logitech, so "Logitech" is Logicool in Japan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logitech

that would be the most 'Logicool' approach to avoid being landed with a lawsuit

    (---see what i did there??)

I think its cool. - sometimes bigger companies would take smaller companies to court just because the smaller company has the more or less the exact same name n force them to change it no matter if the small company has been established first/longer. - stuff like that has been in the papers a few times here in the UK so as much as it probably logitech disliked changing the brand in different countries - they have to respect the company that was established first and of course, the law amongst other things.

yeah your right - $116 is about £73. the one i got my eye on is a samsung one for £30
