As the title states, looking for a good mic. I can't stand wearing a headset (even if it's around my neck I would rather not). I currently run my mic above and behind my monitor, it's probably about 2 - 3 feet away from me. It works fine, but sometimes it has a mid of it's own and I get outbound volume drops, also has a low hum background noise.
I've looked at a few more expensive mic's, but the point of those is better hz as far as I know. And the more limited range you get the more background noise it cuts out. Which is great and all if you run your mic near your head, but mines a ways off, so the few high quality mic's I have heard sound great, but when I ask the people using them how far away it is from them, they usually say a few inches only. I could move my mic to probably about 1ft away, but then it would be sitting on top of my center channel speaker, and I wonder how much sound it would pick up from that vs from me talking.
I'm probably looking to spend $20ish, so wondering what recommendations anyone out there has.
