Does it matter which war? If Revolutionary War is OK, The Patriot was awesome.

    BLACKHAWK DOWN!!!!
Awesome flick. I even got a little choked up watching it. I just wanted to start blasting things apart! Not only is the sound effects the best Iv ever heard but the WHOLE movie is a true story. The scene with the two snipers almost make me weep. It was so good I bought two magazines for my M14 the next day.

Another movie thats good but not very known is one called "When Trumpets Fade". The music kinda sucks but the characters are VERY realistic and react as you would think a normal man would. Cult classic!

its not a movie but a tv series but "generation kill" is the best war bases show i have ever seen (and war movies are realy my thing), it is about 8 hrs in total tho but well worth it

if not "we were soldiers" is a great movie (mel gibson about the vietnam war and the first air cav)

    platoon?

and i thought blackhawk down sucked big time - missed so many factual things out. which is disappointing when they do it for a bigger audience.

But hey each to his/her own.

And i agree Full Metal Jacket is freakin awesome!

I already replied to this quote but it didnt post! Odd.

Anyways remember Blackhawk Down was a movie and not a documentary. Its more of a tribute than an educational film. It illustrated a situation that showed the courage we ask of our troops without any subliminal political backdrop. I read the book and saw the movie soon after and I agree they left out some really interesting things. However most people never knew the story of GARY IVAN GORDON and RANDALL D. SHUGHART. They only saw what the media got footage of AFTER the whole thing went down. The fact they won the Medal of Honor is a story the public should be shown even if the rest of the movie missed some details.

Also the sound, impact and reaction of the gunfire was the best Iv ever seen. I can say this from personal experience with those arms.

Full Metal Jacket is great but not realistic at all. Its was more of a caricature of the conflict but a damn good one.

Braveheart stereo types Scotland and has hardly any historical realism, FACT Braveheart dosnt have a battle of Sterling Bridge, including other anomalies.

Its total tosh watch Rob Roy for a heart wrenching film about Scotland, its about the clans and the highland clearance. Rob Roy is an important member of Scottish history this film is about him and is very historically accurate. Its set in the 1700s i think.

I actually cried it was that good!
