isnt that the game were you have to pay for access to the better dungeons? or you can grind endlessly and change money to diamonds just to have access to a dungeon?

I'm curently playing Aion and enjoying it for the most part. Sometimes it can be hard to find a group to do some of the more difficult quests that requires a group to get through the quest, but the game iis what I like.

I've tried WoW, but it wasn't to my liking. I like that Aion makes you work for stuff and not just hand things out for showing up.

I typically roll 1 melee and 1 range toon.

When the class was first revealed I was like…oh man I want an imperial agent! While I like tactical play and being able to kill from afar in FPS, it’s not the same in MMOs. Even if I am a squishy class I am always pissing melee-ers off up close and personal. Plus K/D doesn’t ever matter to me in MMOs. Anyway after that latest video I can assess that the classes most hardcore PvPers will roll are the Trooper and Bounty Hunter. I say that because BH & Trooper will be the real counter to all the noob melee force users, I know that there will be a few really good Knights and Warriors will be running around but I also know that there will be SOOOOOOO many bad ones). Neither the inquisitor nor consular are appealing to me as they are squishy melee/force users. That video instantly made me fall in love with the BH and Trooper.

I am never over excited about any MMO releases…but like I said…my gut says that the game will be done well initially and expand later. Don’t write it off yet Kurgan…if when you can test it I would! As far as MMOs go my gut has only lied to me about 1 game and that was in 2001. LISTEN TO MAH GUT!

Just have to reiterate…I am watching 38 studios progress on Copernicus. I love the mind of Todd McFarlane but don’t really trust R. A. Salvatore. He was the author of a dumb Star Wars book back in 2000 (yes I read star wars books), it was terrible. Sucks how that sticks with me but it does.

I agree Trooper and BH look to be awesome, if I do play, I will most likely play one of those, even though I want to play melee. I like BH, but Trooper gets the big guns, hard choices, wish I didn't have to make it though. Like You say, the other force users aren't worth looking at to me.

I am not writing it off, the thought of the game is cool, what they could do has a chance to be epic, but it has a lot of things that make me think twice. I am signed up for beta, I'm sure I will at least try it out.

And I agree about MacFarlane, that game might have the coolest mobs ever, but with the story in RA's hands, that is the bigger factor.

I currently play EQ2 and I enjoy it. Unlike Binge I can not only pay $15 monthly for this sub, and of course pay the other fees involved for expansions and shit; but I can also buy every single new game that releases each year that I want.

To date EQ2 is one of the better MMO games I have played and I have played nearly every single P2P MMO.

I'm also a fan of Lotro but I no longer sub it.

I'm beta testing Mortal Online. This is one MMO that is not for the weak of heart.

Just FYI, the Korea version of Aion is even worse. They actually lowered the exp requirement by a tremendous amount for the US version.

I've got my main at level 44 right now and the experience requirements don't bother me.

Just FYI, the Korea version of Aion is even worse. They actually lowered the exp requirement by a tremendous amount for the US version.

ahh okay, from start? or did they release a patch that made it easier, i guess im just use to other games with quests that make it seem less long and everything, because it was just alot faster grinding, it took only 8 hours of grinding onsters but quests took longer.

I've got my main at level 44 right now and the experience requirements don't bother me.

ahh okay, i just saw that they have double xp weekends also. which would help alot.

Jumpgate- Id say its 50/50 we see a retail release, they did a friends and family beta and rumors are it was terrible, this led to a few major departures from the staff and apparent reworking of the entire game.

Stargate worlds- its dead, they lost funding and released that crap stargate fps with what they had done to try and recoup some money. Their in the courts right now with a bunch of bankruptcy claims and whatnot

Damn so that's the current status of SG Worlds. Shame that is, like Horizon, it started as a basement adventure and could have been worthy of much deserved fame.

Seems like all the really niche stuff gets screwed over before it goes to beta, that or they try to 'adapt' to make it more mass appealing.

I didn't comment on AION, didn't seem there was much to add. It's a clone, simply put; And really in your face - constantly reminding you that it's a clone. If you can even reach level 35 you just want to gouge your eyes out. And I had GOOD stuff, heck first time in Fire Temple and I came out with a K-bow! I was rich by level 25, already having made just shy of twenty million kinah from all the jewelery crit crafts.
The PVP was awful. It was either be ganked by ten people on one, or do conquest battles where legions of clans stood around opposing each other from across some invisible line - everyone too scared to cross it. It's like when gangs stand on each side of the street and mouth off to one another, but no one actually fights.

So even if you like the feel, or some of the features of Aion, you have to ask yourself, 'why am I doing this?' The 'end game' is just like all the others, and you end up doing all the same things as you do when you've run into that brick wall in other MMOs : Roll an alt, 'PvP' or take a break...till they release an expansion where you ..that's right, do the same things again and again.


I really don't know enough about Jump Gate to pass judgment. I tried to get into BETA, though have heard nothing!

SGW wasn't any good anyway. I was in beta for quite awhile and it really sucked. I love SG by the way and I wanted the game to be good.

I don't run my main on the double experience weekends. Otherwise I move too fast through levels and I miss out on things like quests or instances. The 2x exp weekends I'll play my alts and push them up to level 20-30 (depending on what alt I'm playing and what I plan to accomplish with it).

I'm not a big fan of the 2x exp weekends, but at the same time I do take advantage of them. Especially when I was working to get a complete Davea armor set for my main; you need to run 5 characters to level 30 and do a pretty simple quest to obtain 1 piece of a 5 piece set; you can pass the armor between characters on your account and make one full set (gives some great bonuses for level 30).

That's what I mainly used the 2x exp weekends for. You can zip through levels 1-25 easy in about 18-20 hours of game play on those weekends. Hitting 30 requires another 6-8 hours if you can afford to spend the time. So going from 1-30 isn't an issue for someone with a lot of free time on a 2x exp weekend.
