M.2 SATA vs PCIE temperatures

Im thinking of an ITX build and was looking into M.2 drives. I got questions on it though. there are videos showing PCIE (Samsung 850 Pro and SM951) reaching 90C-100C and throttling, so obviously they do not make any sense whatsoever for mini-ITX builds.

But what about SATA ones, do they generate the same amount of heat? Im guessing not, but would like to know from experience anyway - and put it out there in case anyone ends up searching on this.

The sata ones run cooler. Less data throughput means less heat generated.

It's only going to be under extreme I/O operations. AKA Bench-marking and copying GB's of files.

If this is your OS drive, nothing to worry about.

Wow! 113°C. That really surprised me considering it has an operating range of 0 to +70°C. Even 98°C for the PCIe Plextor surprised me.

But still, those benchmark programs are designed to abuse the hardware and do not represent real world taskings.
