Good point. But my statement isn't pro-violence or pro-death penalty for basic misdemeanor assault.

Daedalus—I liked your post, didn't mean to aim mine at you. BTW love your avatar.

People, if you're getting frustrated/upset at a game ... close it and go do something else for a while. Just chill. You'll probably play better when you come back to it after taking a breather anyway.

Oh I know you weren't aiming at my post but I wanted to make sure I wasn't lumped in with the other knee-jerk reactions. I take law very serious since I am working in an industry which is over litigated. One mistake in my career costs hundreds and maybe thousands of lives.

I also don't trust the government to decide if someone lives or dies in relation to the death penalty. Although at times of war killing is necessary.

I'm not sure I understand what you are getting at here. Care to elaborate?

    Here's my take ...

Kid kills man in game (fantasy, no real violence).
Kid smack talks (rude, obnoxious, still not real violence)
Man attacks kid with potentially deady intention (rage, actual violence)

    Who is to blame?
The game? (No, that's total BS and we know it)
The kid? (While he may be a jerk, he did little more than name calling)
The Man (He actively took it upon himself to find the kid and try to strangle him).

I know it's a tough call (sarcasm), but if this mental case is just tossed back on the street, how long before another kid pisses him off and he actually kills someone.
Then what do you say, "I didn't think he would go off the deep end again?"

This man should be removed from society. Not killed, just removed.

I say the parents of the 13-year-old kid should be fined for letting him play M-rated games. The parent is at fault in this situation, if she had not bought the game for him, he would not have been playing it.

So if a parent, either willingly or unknowingly, allows a child to play a game that is rated in excess of their age, it vidicates someone who decides to do the child bodily harm because they were upset by the child's actions?

...probably not worth discussing this in any sort of logical manner. after all, consider the audience...

No, you think the parent is to blame for the child getting assaulted by a grown up? No.

Kreij are not not a parent? I would assume that when you buy your children games you are not at fault if your children are assaulted for playing the game.

    Hypothetical situation:

Mailman and Kreij's son, Mussels are playing BF3. Mailman gets killed by Mussels while Mussels says "U mad" over chat repeatedly. Mailman goes to attack Mussels. How is Kreij at fault? Mailman is clearly at fault in this situation.

I'm not sure the age of people around here anymore, we need another poll. Too bad most here are probably the age of the child attacked in the story.

@PVT : My post was a question not a statement pointing out how absurd it is to blame either the mother or the child for the actions of the man who assaulted the child.

The entirety of the fault does not fall upon the parents. that isn't what I meant; although they do carry a large portion of the blame. Yes, the 46 year old whackjob that grabbed the kids throat does need to be sent to an asylum. However, the ineffectual parent in this situation did not even know - or care - what her kid was playing, saying and doing.

I do understand your point of veiw.

Yeah, the guy is nuts for going round there and actually, physically, strangling him, but how many times has one actually wanted to strangle someone for being an ass? This guy obviously had less inhibitions and just acted on it.

What I can't believe, is that they're still friends! That's the weirdest part of all.

    BUT....

What if the kid knew kung fu??

What if he had been studying Liu Kang's moves from Mortal Kombat long enough to let off a bicycle kick??

Some kids are strong in the force!!!!

That's not actually true he never gave out his address the man just lived down the road and personally knew the child.

Not sure what eventually happened to the man in the end.

Then that guy went about making his point the wrong way.

If I was him and i wanted to make a statement like that, i would have petrol bombed his house or put a brick through all of his windows.

If i wanted to be more malicious. then i would pour Kerosene or another flammable substance through his letterbox, light it and walk way.

In for a penny - In for a pound as they say

    -------

Then again, Nobody likes someone getting 1up on them.

but if this guy is mad enough to go to a kids house and beat him over a computer game, then he has some serious issues he has to sort out.
