what happens if i put pc3700 ram in a mobo that only supports up to pc3200? does it not work, or does it lock it down to pc3200 speed? or does it allow for better overclocking :D

You be able to support it. Mine is rated at PC3200, but I can run PC4200 on it. It will let for better overclocking because it will be able to go to a higher fsb on your cpu before you have to set a divider due to the ram. What is your mobo?

I'v read peoples setups with that mobo and some were running PC3700 on it and I saw at DFI's site that you can. You should be able to support it.

so u think i should get it? like 7 dollars more, yet the cas latency is 2.5 instead of 2. also, i could jump to pc4000 for another 7 or so

If you have a P4 the latency won't matter much.

Should oso consider the overall timing of the RAM......

Kingston value RAM normally has a 3-3-3-8 timing whereas Apacer and Geil have 2.5-4-4-8 timing. Based on some articles that I have read, Kingston value RAM seems better at o'cing.....

Corsair value RAM is slightly more expensive coz its timing is normally set at 2.5-3-3-7 la.... :D
