John Porcaro, official Microsoft spokesman published a rebuttal to the XBOX 360 firmware hack announcements:
According to this statement, soon there will be another online update via the XBOX's internet connection, which will fix the chance to modify the DVD-ROM firmware and play pirate DVDs.

wont be hard to take care of .. since the drive firmware chip is not part of the "core security system" it can be easily modified to report back whatever live update wants to hear ..
i.e. just change the chip to report "already patched" to the live update software

Haha, those guys who got the old xbox 360s are lucky then, cuz they don't have to upgrade their xbox and get to play illegal games!!! (when the crack leaks ofcourse)
