Well my oncle works for Avira AV Labs GMBh germany and yeah, I learned some stuff from him!
For example the Dropper Troajn on the top: I found it by analysing the task manager.
I mean common: what is windows.exe doing in the task manager!
But I suck in hardware / OC, thats why I need help almost everyday from u guys!
I really did not meanth to be mean! :toast:
And trust me, Im still a HS-Student and im probably 100000 times more stupid than everybody in here!!!

Well maybe I have had too much coffee LOL . I am not that smart when it comes to all this program this program that stuff . I may have took offense because I search for BRAIN.EXE and well finally got your joke . I am 43 yo and have limited time to learn things now that my BRAIN has stopped growing . At my age it is really hard to learn and that maybe why I am pissed off at your joke . :wtf: GOD I hate being old and getting confused all the time . My computer knows more than I do and so does every one here including you !

No need to BUY AV it is free with MS . I'm a PC and Windows 7 was MY IDEA !
No matter what any one tells you AVG was and is also " Free " but you really have to PAY for it to get the security you want . MS just puts it in there FOR FREE no buying up yearly copies or BLOATED software taking up your time and resources ! NO I love the Microsoft Security Essentials .

AVG free and MSE give you the same protection. They both give basic virus and malware protection. MSE doesn't give any more features than AVG Free.

And in the testing I just did MSE was one of the worst on resource usage.

Yeah but I do not get any annoying adds telling me to buy there crap every time I use it . And AVG is NOT truly free . There is a price and well that price comes when you have a real VIRUS ( At least this is what happened to me ) . I had a virus once tried to clean it using AVG Free and well the BS program told me I had to purchase it before it would clean my shit ! And I think you are wrong about the resource usage but that is just me .

Thanks for posting this dub. Think this was the first time I felt excited about a new version of an AV program. But in fairness think Microsoft did a good job on this one.

It is hefty for an AV, but there's not a whole lot of difference between them. MSE have this thing when msmpeng.exe uses every resource there is, but it's not as bad nowadays as the early release.

What annoying ads? There is a banner at the bottom when you open the gui, big deal. And that is total BS that AVG said you had to pay to clean a virus, I've used it for years and it has never said I had to pay to clean a virus it does not do that.

I wouldn't blame AVG alone, there's a bunch of things that can go wrong on such networks, conflicts and whatnot.

And what did AVG?
It didnt even detect the autorun of the worm............... :shadedshu
Now each teacher must turn in their flashdrives for check, before plugging it in!

I beg to differ . You can spend that much on Norton's or AVG or any other AV software in a years time . I mean most have to be updated every week as well and bugs ? Come on MS is not the only one with patches and BUGS .

Alright, ill tell u:

BRAIN.EXE stands for your own brain!
If you know, how to surf on the web and dont download anny porn or torrents, I promise u, u will be alot safer! ;)
No AV needed anymore!
Jusst install all updates and use BRAIN.EXE the right way and ull be safe! :)
I did not wanted to be mean! :toast:

Since I am in the IT field and have to deal with this kind of stuff nearly every day, I am very vocal about practicing safe browsing. However, even if you stick to trusted sites and don't mess around with porn and torrents, you can still get viruses. My wife was on ehow.com and ended up getting a virus from an ad on the site. I recognized the signs right away, so I was able to get in there and stop it before it did too much damage.

AVG broke our school network! :shadedshu

I agree that AVG is garbage. We did a tech refresh two years agao at work. We took all the old computers and "sold" them for a $100 donation to our guild (charity). All the computers were wiped clean with DBAN, had the OS reinstalled and has AVG added & updated. So many of them came back with viruses it wasn't funny.

ok. but I use this now and love it .

I use MSE as well, but I've used AVG for years, and have installed it on clients computers for years as well. I only recently switched to MSE because I like it slightly better. But that still doesn't mean your original comment was any less full of false information.

Techer brought a flashdrive, that had the gaobot worm!
She plugged it into a system in major computer room and of course the autorun executet it!

So the virus broke your network and you blamed it on AVG. No worm should be able to spread beyond a single computer on a properly set up network, so if it broke then entire network, your network wasn't set up properly.

Well to me at least Nortons free and still dont use the crap.. And no there is a few what do the job just as well cheaper than those rip off apps.

My point is you cannot call it FREE not if you had to spend so much money on the OS to be able to use it.

Not saying it's no good although my wife hates it as it's always disconnecting her game ( maybe this new one will be better ).

I don't see what you paid for the OS has to do with the cost of the AV you use. With any AV you use on Windows, you are paying the same for the OS. So saying MSE isn't free because you have paid for Winodws doesn't make sense. Haven't you paid the same for Windows with any other AV you use?

I understand if you are saying from a pirated OS standpoint, but if you have pirated the OS, you can pirate MSE as well...

MSE's scanning speed is slow. The real time protection freqently causes stutters when I download executables. I used it for about a month then switched back to Avira.
