The Finnish company Teleste announces that they expect to have their ETTH (Ethernet-To-The-Home) technology ready by next year. ETTH is a technology to create 100Mbit Ethernet over existing cable networks and can coexist next to current EuroDocsis standard. With ETTH a modem is no longer required.
The Dutch cableprovider Essent already picked a location to test, unfortunately I don't know which providers in other countries will use it. According to Teleste it's competitors won't have similar technology until at least 2007.
