Hello all. It's been years since I have swapped a mobo and cpu. I am going intel, with the intention to get the i5 2500k. I have the asrock gen 3 crossfire motherboard already.

My concerns are this: Do I have to reinstall windows. If so, My windows cd is "cyberpower" owned, therefore, will I be able to use that when it detects new components.

It reads :Support for these Microsoft products is provided by cyberpower inc. For distribution only with a new cyberpower pc. The software included on this Recovery media was pre-installed on your hard drive at the factory and may only be used for backup and recovery of your cyberpower inc computer system.

This is windows 7 Home Edition. Thank you!

When I changed my ASRock 870 Extreme 3 to the ASRock 990fx, I literally used the same hard drive without reinstalling windows.

It is ideal to do a clean boot, but Win7 is so smart that you can get away without doing so.

That's a relief! Will I have to uninstall the drivers for my old motherboard as well as GPU's? Or

Well what I did, before switching mobos, I used driver sweeper to remove my gpu drivers.

Then uninstalled the software that came with my mobo, for example "ASRock Instant Boot" stuff like that.

Then, once I installed my new mobo I updated the bios and reinstalled the gpu drivers. Good to go. Didn't have to reinstall windows at all and have never had any hiccups.
