grab mechanical keyboard and razer mouse imo

Mechanical keyboards are nice, but more often than not they are "basic". Still good though, if you don't mind losing random media buttons and the like. Check out Cherry, Razer Black Widow, Steelseries 6GV2, and wait for others to crop up. I have not used a mechanical keyboard, so I cannot talk about them much. I am currently using the Logitech G11, other than its size I like it alot. I have also tried the Sidewinder x6, and that is one nice keyboard too. But between non mechanical "gamer" keyboards and your average $10 keyboards, I think your average $10 keyboard is "good enough".

Mice however, I would avoid Razer as a rule of thumb. Steelseries Kinzu is one nicely built basic mice, but if you want something more fancy take a look at Logitech MX 518 (gamers swear by it), or Logitech G5(00). Other good value for money mice are Sidewinder mice, and also Cyborg, but Cyborg is a bit on the expensive side.

If you are not bothered to do research, I will recommend the Steelseries 6Gv2 and Logitech G500, but together they are more expensive than your budget allows.

I have recently blind bought an Oscar X7 series mouse. quite nice actually although I never heard of them before. But fully customizable and lots of buttons, DPI changing on the fly, and (for me) very comfortable to use. Its a very light mouse, tho.

Blackwidow looks nice and clean enought. Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow price 89€
Now the mouse.

Ah, you might want to take a look at the Blackwidow Ultimate, and perhaps Zowie keyboards.

Are they seriously trying to justify spending significantly more on a Keyboard by saying that non-Mechanical keyboards cause fatigue? I use 2-3 of the keyboards they list at work (was unaware they are even mechanical) and am willing to say the difference is really not as severe as he seems to make it out. It's a luxury at best, but really there isn't much of a difference.

I would honestly reccomend something that looks nice and supports the features you want. For example, I love media keys. Almost no mechanical kayboards have them, and I see that as a major drawback. I have a Razer Arcosa that I picked up for cheap and I love it. It definitely feels better than this stupid Unicomp Machanical Keyboard I use at work...

As for a mouse, I definitely reccomend the class MX518. Love mine. Also a big fan of the DeathAdder, but those break a lot easier. Other than those, the StealSeries Xai is supposed to be amazing.

Well i had one good Razer mouse which was the original Diamondback but the 3G and the Lachesis were 2 that totally failed due to build quality by either lasting just over a year or way under.

As i do love using the claw grip with mice the DB was so right for me which is why i had 2 of them.

Well cannot say much about the Mechanical keyboards you have used although they do sound like they suck as i have the blackwidow ultimate and the difference is night and day.

XAI for now at least is totally kick ass :).. No sign of wear yet but there is time as it's only about 3 months old. And best part the price has dropped too but i do wounder if the quality did with it too

I say depends on what games you play. As a Starcraft 2 player, I can certainly feel the difference going from my laptop keyboard to an el-cheapo keyboard to my G11, and I am pretty sure I will tell the difference again when I move on to a mechanical keyboard. Plus, all the Koreans I have seen seems to be using mechanical keyboards (not too sure whether for durability or they just like the feel of them). When you are a progamer spamming about 300 apm average, your "A" key will die in much less than a year at 5 million keystroke rating.

I highly recommend going mechanical if you are willing to spend some extra cash. They are truly superior in my opinion. Even the razer black widow is a great board. I know because I have one. They have better tactile response, they are faster, they're more durable, and they are just plain awesome. If not just go for any logitech or razer non mechanical keyboard. They aren't going to make a huge difference in FPS's really. Grab an old G15 for super cheap. I'm trying to sell my second gen G15 right now but it's pretty hard as there are so many other keyboards out at low prices also.

For mouse: I use a razer naga for strategy/mmorpg's and I use a RAT7 for FPS's and other stuff. I use a logitech performance mouse mx for every day work and comfort.

There are so many to choose from.

Keyboard was Ordered. Now left the mouse. From all opinions (Thank you all) now i even more don't know which one to buy. Expensive one or not so expensive. Im playing all kind of games. From what i read RAT 7 have some issues with Windows 7. Razer (btw razer mamba looks nice) low Durability. (And both are expensive brands). My last mouse (before this piece of Crap im using now) was worth about 10 € (DELUX) Survived about 3 years with nervous gamer like me :D

I was unaware we were giving hardware advice to IdrA, my apologies. Like I said, I have used some of those keyboards the site I was talking about reccomended, and was not all that impressed. I'm sure for people in the top 0.1% it makes a difference, but for the other 99.9% I don't think the difference between a $150 mechanical keyboard and a decent $50-75 keyboard would be noticable. He already ordered so clearly it doesn't matter, but just my input.

As for the mouse, I stand by my suggestion of the SS Xai, Razer DeathAdder, or Logitech MX518.

Not here, mate. Lately I am all for simplicity and I dont use the advanced programming (saitek software is always beta, but the drivers are perfect.) I just assign in game.

I am not sure why you would pick on the 300apm, I am a diamond player and my apm already averages well over 150, and that is essential apm, not mindless spamming, and only 6 months of serious RTS gaming. Give me a year or two I will hit over 200+ easily. The idea behind recommending mechanical keyboard is that if you can get a keyboard which has 10x the longevity of a product half its price, you will want to get it. Plus mechanical keyboards have a nice clickety sound to them (a bit like buying muscle cars for their exhaust tone, but nevermind).

The only thing I look for when using a keyboard is that the keys are not so "high" (depth).
Do not know much about gaming mice, I have one of them "Razer" mice. Won it, so it's the main reason for owning it. The only thing I really do like about it is that I can change the sensitivity and add macros to the extra keys. But most of them gaming mice can do the same today I believe.

I do use the pen supplied with the Qintic more often than the mouse these days however.
Not a gamer exactly, so what mouse to get is not my thing. BUT.. Get an ergonomic mouse is all I can say after spent one year with a mouse too big for my hand.
