Hello guys!

So it's like this. I got wasted of waiting for AMD new GPU's and i want to get a new GPU asap.

So my question right here is simple as this:

MSI GTX 980 - 599€
or
GTX 780ti Matrix Platinum - 431€

Does it worth the extra for GTX 980 ? My big concerns are these: 980 has DX12 and 4GB wich 780TI doesn't, that's why i really can't decide.

Best regards all!

At 1440p resolution my 780ti sli set up is starting to hit VRAM limits on certain games. It causes some 'hitching'. Although a well over clocked 780ti effectively matches even an over clocked 980, the extra ram is better on the 980.
Though I'd hold out till June if you're looking at dropping big bucks on a card. AMD's new card will be unveiled and Nvidia may have to answer.

You pretty much answered your own question.

With the soon to be launched DX12 and all games eventually being designed around it, why would you buy an obsolete card to save money?

I have a MSI GTX 980 gaming 4G and love it, you won't be disappointed.

My question here is. I was waiting for the AMD new cards. Does it worth still waiting for them to expect a possible GTX 980 price drop or better perfomance at lower price from AMD?

It might be a few months yet before AMD announces anything.
If you want a card and can wait, then wait.
If you need a card, then buy now and kick yourself later like everyone else does :fear: :D

DX12 are confirmed as well to Fermi GPU's too.

Who said DirectX12 are only supported for the GTX 900 series or any AMD 300 ?

I won't buy GTX 980TI or whatever, i don't pay thowsands for a GPU, and paying 600€ for a GTX 980 it's already making me cost a lot . I just want once for all a superb GPU for the next years. I really don't want the GTX 970, already had tons of problems with it, 4 returnings full of problems, keep me away from that trash cards.

R9 290X is just about as DX12 ready as the 980 given no one knows the exact requirements yet... I would advise you to not worry about the DX12 stuff if you need to buy today. All cards Fermi/GCN or higher will have baseline DX12 WDDM2.0 support. It's the extra features that are up in the air.

On that note, if you don't mind energy efficiency being shitty, 4GB R9 290X's are very affordable right now. :)

290X is out of question, i don't need a warmimg computer lol. I think i'll just keep waiting for AMD in a possibility for Nvidia to turn down her prices or a some better GPU from AMD at the same price. The thing is that i've waiting without GPU for a few months already and i'm getting wasted of this situation :\

As I said, it's energy efficiency is piss poor. It's only the cost that's it's benefit.

I live in frozen land so I like the heater effect. :)

Besides the GPU, i'm going to get a EVGA Supernova G2 750W too, that's why i thinked about 780ti for 431€ because the rest of the money i could use on the PSU, 700€ (GPU + PSU) is not really in my plans, lot of money from once.

I want to ask something guys using this post. Cooler Master V700 , is a extreme, very good , trust, and reliable PSU right? No problems with it?

All the reviews I have seen give it a very good rating.
I haven't read about any faults and with a 5 year warranty it would be worth getting if the price is right.

780ti I would really hesitate to buy brand new - the card is old and many 780ti owners are now switching to a Titan X. So try to grab one second-hand. They will still have warranty on them as well...

I have seen 780ti second hand sell for around 300 EUR, that's the price of a 970. And you could still re-sell that card a year from now for at least 200 EUR when there are sensible upgrades again. Now, if you can grab a 780ti for 300 eur; that is one sweet deal. It performs better than a 970 and equals the 980 in many games, so consider that a 'GTX 975' at about the price of a cheap 970. And screw power efficiency, right :)

That's how I do my upgrades for GPU; my GTX 770 is also a second-hand, traded my 660 SLI set in for that one and earned about 50 EUR on that sale. It's a really good way to have a yearly upgrade or sidegrade and not spend a lot of money doing so. Cards always last for 2-2,5 years before their value plummets. Rebrands make that period even longer.

Benchmark Scores Have tried but can't beat the leaders :)
can you be more specific about what do you plan to do? i mean what is your specs? what is your monitor resolution? do you plan to upgrade your monitor? are you planning 4k?

if you need really need gpu then get the 980. if you can wait for amd. then wait. if not then get what you want.
