It has to do with your motherboard support, not with your operating system support, don't worry there.

it just makes a clock adjustment so there is no need to use the app to get the rated speed of 1007mhz. it's in house made but Thursday I'll make it public if all checks out. msi has really stepped up there game with there loyal customers..

more to follow when I post.back Thursday ;)

when I have some time I think I'm going to turn this into the msi gamer gpu club for both vendors. amd and Nvidia. I'm going to change.the #1 post and add links, videos and anything msi gpu related. I will also move.the link for the new bios and have links for the tools and detailed flashing instructions.

how does that sound people? any thoughts or suggestions?

Sounds good, just gotta specify which gpu we are talking about so we dont get mixed up. Yes the 290 will be my weapon of choice from msi.

it's up to you guys. it's not a pissing match between the.two companies it's just for gamer msi card owners and on lookers. tbh I'd like to keep it just for R9 cards but I think we need a vote.. or how about any new Gen cards from msi be the reference, gamer, lightning?

It's a nice price in the card imo, but since I'm looking for another reference, it can't help me much

I just received my my card, but I'm getting flickering or some tearing once in a while. This isn't even in game or anything. During normal usage, the screen would sometimes flicker black and be back to normal in a second. Other times the screen looks like it's tearing for that 1 second and would go back to normal then. I have a 650W seasonic PSU on W8.1 and catalyst 14.2. Is this a common problem?

On w8 anything is possible. Do you have the tiny bios switch to the right #2 position? And get away from the latest beta driver. Use the 13.12 certified one. Download ddr aka display driver remover and do the uninstall in safe mode ( it does it for you) very easynto use and effective. Try that and let us know if its still doing it. Also do you have any gpu overclocking tool installed? If so remove it before the gpu driver. What card did you have installed before?this works on windows 7 but not sure about 8. It showed I had old 7900 series cards along with the new R9's and got rid of weird shit.

It's switched to the hybrid BIOS. I have MSI afterburner, but I have not tinkered around with any clocks so everything is factory. This was installed on fresh 8.1 with no drivers prior. I'll give 13.12 a shot, but sometimes the flickers will stop for a while (5 min. to an hour) and then come back with greater frequency. It's pretty random.

Neliz the msi rep hangs out here once n a while but I know he's busy getting a presentation done but im sure he'll pop in later and give you some advice. Sorry butbif you did a clean install I dont know what else to suggest besides pulling out the card and blowing out the pci-e slot to be sure no dirt/ dust is in there. You can try a soft lint free cloth with some rubbing alcohol and give tje cards gold fingers a light wipe down and let it dry and try again but I bet its the driver. For me it works ok but glitches alot but the 13.12 works really well with this card. Good luck and ill check back in the morning.

Also, check your PSU. on a "bare" system without CPU load, you're already pulling 440W during GPU testing. Add CPU load, drives, fans and you're already taxing the limits of your 650W PSU (assuming 80% efficiency.)

But otherwise, for software glitches, the BIOS is irrelevant.

Well, I gave 13.12 a shot and this morning, the same screen flicker/tear happened.

I don't think it's the PSU. It's a Seasonix X650 Gold and the fact that I'm not even stressing the GPU or anything and it'll still flicker. It could happen while web browsing or just navigating file explorer. My motherboard is a MSI Z87 G45 and I used to remember there being some flickering too when I was just using integrated graphics. Could the motherboard be the cause?
