    Hi all,

    i have come across a strange problem with my rig that seems to only occur with GTR2.

    Firstly my rig.

    Mobo: Gigabyte 965P-DS3P
    CPU: Intel C2D E4300 @ 1.8Ghz, OC to 3.0Ghz
    CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX (replaced stock fan with b-cool 120)
    Memory: 4 x 512MB Corsair Twin2X 5400C4
    Video: Gigabyte 7600GT Silent Pipe
    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7,200
    DVD: ASUS Light scribe
    PSU: Hyper Type-R 580W
    Case: Antec 900

    OC Settings
    Multiplier = 9x
    FSB = 334Mhz
    PCI = 100Mhz
    CPU Volts = 1.35V
    All other volts are set to stock.

    Upon cold booting my PC I can run GTR2 no problems. If I reboot my PC and launch GTR2 it gets the stutters and my frame drops from 60+ to around 10 FPS.

    If I then switch back to stock clocks she is fine again.

    I also noticed if I leave my rig OC and switch it off for around 1 hour she will run GTR2 no problems, its only once I reboot.

    I have tried different memory but that did not fix it. I also noticed I was on an early BIOS version so I am in the process of updating it and giving it another go.

    Has any one experienced this before?

    Is there something else I should tweak in my OC settings?

    Considering she runs games like V8 Supercars 3 no probs I am at a loss to explain this.

    You advice and feedback is much appreciated.

    Hi everyone,

    Researching my problem I cam across this site

    http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951

    Utility to set PCI Latency and possibly prevent game stutter or improve FPS.

    Has anyone used this before?

    IF so what was your experience?

    Should I give this a go?

    Thanks,

    Maybe over heating ?. you checked the temps with some thing like Speedfan ?. BUT it's kinda odd how it's stuttering after a reboot.

    I think your OC might be unstable.

    Did you test for stability with Orthos?

    Nope quite sure its not a temp issue.

    TAT is reporting temps of 31-36C at idle and 57-61C at full load (depending on the ambient air temp).

    I haven't used Orthos but I have used Prime95, TAT and 3DMark and they have reported no issues.

    To give you a better understanding here is how I emulate the problem.

    1. Power up PC.
    2. After windows loads up, set Display mode to Clone (which also changes my screen resolution to 1024x768)
    3. Load up GTR2
    4. Go into Race Weekend and click on Race.
    5. Check FPS
    6. Exit out of GTR2
    7. Reboot PC
    8. Repeat Steps 2-5

    The end result is my Frame Rate drops from 60+ down to around 10FPS.

    I can complete this process in around 10 minutes so my CPU has barely had enough time to break a sweat.
    I have also tried both increasing and decreasing CPU volts but that did not make a difference.
    I do have a feeling that I may need to tweak some of my other OC settings but I am not sure where to start.

    Thanks for everyone's input.
