MY PC has just statred to restart even during Boot and after boot, Please help.

So though my PC with win 7 64bit is running well for last 7 -8 hours. with one stick of ram instead of 4. It is still not known why it did not work well before...?

as above it should not have been restarted when I was installing Linux with new install CD on separate SATA HDD because on the same HDD later WIN XP installation worked... :confused::confused:

Though I have done two changes:-
1. WIPE SSD fully, not quick....
2. Rewrite WIN 7 install media again with rewritable dvd with 2X speed.

It is still not known why it did restart when I was installing Linux on same SATA HDD where WIN XP installation worked...?

I gave entire whole yesterday troubleshooting this things just to know that it just worked well automatically without resolving any particular issue.

did you change any BIOS settings between these steps? IDE to AHCI, etc? BIOS resets would change it as well, and could have been a cause or fix.

At least the wires are fine. Correct me if im wrong at the moment u are using 1sdd with win7 and the other hdds are not connected?

I did but If i remember properly I did it after the problem was solved. I dont rember before installing XP I changed it to IDE or not...

this coming saturday I will reassemble my whole system again with all rams, and fans back in again to check it finally........

the BIOS settings is probably what fixed it, but as you didnt take note of what you changed and when, you simply may not know the fix.

odds are your BIOS will get reset one day and these problems will come back.

So what I did till now:

I forgot to add 4th point.

I think I did not changed to IDE before installing XP 3 which worked.

I slightly suspect the jungle of wires in my lan boy air touching case somewhere might also be the reason as a guy said in previous replies.
secondly yes... to some extent changes in BIOS might have something to do with it. Yes, I clicked on Restore to default option in bios as well but dont know when exactly as I tries lot of install CDs WIN 7 64 BIT, RHEL 5.5, WIN 7 32 BIT, WIN XP SP 3 and live KUBUNTU cd as well.

Anyway , lot of thanks to all for replying quickly to my updates.

you're still skipping when you changed the BIOS settings between IDE and AHCI. XP would have worked better with IDE mode, but any OS will get very upset and fail to boot, if you change from IDE to AHCI or RAID after its installed.

The problem has started again....
I had just put off the monitor and went for break and when came back and switch ON the monitor pc got restarted, after login message says that windows recovered from serious problem and then I surfed web for sometime and while closing tabs the blue screen appeared and pc got restarted again

pc kept restarting again and again even if I pressed F2 for BIOS, two times pc got restarted even when BIOS screen has appeared. strange.

So now I have kicked that TORCH BROWSER OUT OF MY PC. I think this is causing some restarts. Not sure though lets see.

why you use torch browser?
there many browsers that you can rely on or you could try portable browser

Nice question really. I actually I prefer youtube for surfing any Gadget and IT things don't normally use google nowadays. So if I like any IT related study videos, review videos I just click on media download button on Torch browser and I download it to watch it on my tab later in my free time.

But only Torch allows such download option from virtually any sites you visit, so I used it.

Is there any other browser which can do the download from youtube etc.
So that I can kick this Torch Browser away forever.

NO. correction I am using Win 7 64 bit only and yes I do use 32GB of RAM but now only 8GB as I am still to reassemble my CPU.

Really want to see and I am trying hard to see , whether it was Torch or something else.

BIOS updated from 1805 to 2104 (Latest). Note that I have not done this to avoid restarts but did this to ensure system stability. I mean to say even without BIOS update, the system did not restart since I REMOVED TORCH BROWSER.

@Mussels I did one of the thing you recommend.:clap:

I will still not reassemble my CPU and will wait 7 days more.

Edit:- I had used my APC PRO UPS 1500 while doing BIOS update which I guess , is must to avoid hardware problems.

So my machine did not restart for last 2 weeks when I removed Torch browser. But yesterday I re installed Torch browser again to download some youtube videos and while closing the Torch browser the machine got blue screen error and machine rebooted.

So now I use Torch only to download videos from youtube not for browsing. I had even disable the hardware support for it, from its setting option. I think the problem is when you use it's media download option, so after downloading video from it if you attempt to close browser your machine restarts with blue screen message.

I tried other browser but did not find any other with such easy downloading option that Torch browser has.:shadedshu:


SO I am planning to install a Virtual OS and then install Torch Browser in that and then download media from youtube :), is that good option

There are youtube video download tools that can be integrated into Firefox/Palemoon that are better than torch browser, plus they dont cause bsods.

To OP. just because you sandbox it doesnt mean its fully contained, those videos are infected by whatever crap torchbrowser has.
