So basically after replacing my corsair h50 with the h100i and installing a new fan my pc fails to post. When i turn it on it just restarts again after a few seconds and doesn't get any further.

My PC;
EVGA x58 class 3
i7 950
2 x EVGA gtx 770s (attempted to test with only 1 card installed)
850w corsair PSU
corsair h100i
3 sticks 4gb corsair vegeance ram (tried booting without and no beeps with same results)
1 x ssd and 1 x hdd

I'm thinking it may be the PSU being a to low? Before i shell out on a new one i was wondering if anyone has any other ideas as to what it may be?

I've tried resetting the bios etc with same results.

Not to sure what else to try, any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt.

Your PSU is fine, and is providing enough power.

Can you sit in BIOS comfortably without issue, or does the PC restart shortly after POSTing?
Does the PC POST at all?
Does it restart at the same point every time? What point does it restart specifically? (POST, BIOS, Windows Logo, Desktop etc)

Ensure the cooler is mounted correctly, and thermal paste is applied. Your PC will automatically shut down after a few seconds if heat transfer is particularly poor.

Is the backplate of the cooler touching the back of your case, or is it touching metal points on your motherboard? It could be a short somewhere.

Have you tried with singular sticks of RAM?

Remove the H100i [most likely to loose or to tight]
reseat the CPU [while cpu is out reset motherboard bios]
reinstall H100i

Hi guys,

thanks so much for the quick reply,

RCoon it doesn't get as far as the Bios don't get any thing through to the screen at all. I've got a feeling it may be the way i've mounted it, did it last night pretty late on so was pretty tired when fitting it. I've tried with a single stick aswell - same issue.

Law-II I'll try that tonight fingers crossed it works :)

Thanks again.

Hi

Just a quick thought; double check the Skt pins,
Note: member of our community found a very small blob of TIM in Skt, had rushed through a CPU clean-up, had similar issue; may be worth checking for.

How about you try the most simple thing before going further - install the stock cooler back and see if it posts. If it does then you screwed up during the installation of the new cooler, if it doesnt post then have fun trying to figure out what's wrong. Could even be bent pins.

Pull out the cmos battery and wait for 15 minutes. Then put the battery back and retry. Hope this works for you!

i hope you dont have the pump connected to the CPU fan header.
Or, just make sure a fan is connected to the CPU fan header. some motherboards wont post without that.

else its what law said, cooler may have been seated too tightly

I have my Pump connected to the CPU_FAN1 header, and the fan connected to the CPU_FAN2 header. No issues for years.

totally depends on the mobo. didntt work with the m5a 97evo rec 1. know it first hand.
so its better to be safe. The pump is after all a heavier load.
