This was a fresh install of win7 fully updated and latest AMD drivers for my 5870, 1 month old. It does it for a few days then it stops for a a week or more. Just started again last night after some BF3. I've been manually turning my fan up to 70- 80 % just to keep card cool and I thought I was doing well.......:(

WTF,... when it does that just use the checked boxes to play chess or checkers.

If i were you i would be looking for a new card, your 5870 has probably served you very well, its time to move on to something newer.

Looks more to be the gpu die itself and/or VRM's. Time for a new video card.

That card has had it. RMA it if has any warranty or bake it. Otherwise... It's new video card time.
