Well today I went to Fry's and my room mate picked up a GT 640 for playing Star Wars the Old Republic. We got a 2GB model from MSI. So far its running the game on highest settings at 1280x800 with high AA on his TV. It looks pretty good and runs between 35 and 60fps depending on number of players, etc. not bad for an older Athlon II x4 2.8, 2GB ram, a really old hard drive, and his new GT 640 all running on a little 300W power supply. The card is also very compact and runs pretty cool. It should fit in just about any case aside from low profile. It'll make a nice PPD boost as well when he's at work ;). Also, Picked it up for about $85 and it has a $25 MIR bringing the price down to just $60. Not bad at all. I do think 2GB on the card was overkill, but it was the best deal they had there. All the ones at Microcenter were about twice the price at $120. The packaging of the card was pretty good too.

I know 800p isn't very high res but with the higher AA settings, and the fact that he's coming from all low settings running on an 8600GT, oh and that he's mostly a console player, he seems pretty happy with it and it actually looks pretty good. Also, SWTOR is the only PC game he plays so it works just fine,... and a "Gaming" PC under 300w sounds nice to me when it comes to the power bill :)
