my video card is running at full load when idle.

hello everyone, i just recently noticed an issue with my video card which is a gtx 570. the issue is after i play game and exit my gpu is still stuck at full loads and the only way to correct is to reboot my computer.

lately i have been playing grand theft auto 5 and thats when i first noticed this issue which was a few days ago. I haven't tried any other games since i have been horribly addicted to that one lol.

I re installed my video card drivers yesterday to see if that would fix and I went home last night after work, played gta 5 for about an hour and the issue still persisted and it was to late for me to do any more trouble shooting to resolve the issue.

I havent had any time to look at it today since I have been at work all day but tomorrow I play to do so some more troubleshooting since i will be home but any advice to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

you may be right man. I have been researching this today at work since ive been stuck here all day, and I was reading about those viruses when I get a chance I'm going to run some scanners, what would be the best ones to use to find those types of viruses? and if thats not the case what else could be the issue? thanks.

MBAM couple with avast boot scan or kaspersky if you are super-paranoid

o ok. lol its late and i have been staring at this monitor for almost 9 hours lol. but i dont have another question. the issue does resolve itself after a reboot. so you dont think its the card? I do plan on upgrading it in the future since its nearly obosolete but I need to last me for a least 6 months before I can.

Sounds like a cracked gtaV launcher that mines when you start GTA. Nit trying to accuse people, just saying that is a common thing.

Does the same thing happen with a game that is not GTA?

If the game was downloaded from a torrent it could contain anything.

IIRC there was a Driver issue that caused a similar issue a while back I belive it was caused by FLASH hardware acceleration
you said you re-installed the driver did you download the latest version from nvidia?

i havent tried any other games yet. i havent used my pc since friday. I went to the previous drivers to see if that was the issue. I am at work yet again lol and actually one other thing I should have mentioned. the other night I loaded up singularity which is an older game and normally i can run it maxed out a 2k resolution using nvidia dsr and average 60 fps v-synced, but this time i loaded it and was running maybe 25 fps and i even put the resoution down to 1080p and it still ran like crap.

could that have anything to do with this? i just thought that was strange. thats the only other game I have loaded up this week other than gta 5. I tried that game to test my gpu since its least demanding game i currently have installed.

and my gpu load was still at 98% when i exited that game as well but that was before i unsitalled my drivers. I also had msi after burner on my pc to adjust fan speeds. I heard that app could cause this issue so i uninstalled it, but that didnt fix my issue.

An update. it was a bitcoin virus that was causing the problem. I ran malware bytes, it detected it and removed. gpu is running like normal. and in fact I'm getting better performance in gta v. thanks moar for tip, I appreciate it.
