  • You could save costs by opting for 4x 4GB memory instead. If you're building a gaming PC, 32 GB is excessive. 16 GB is enough. If you're building a media transcoding/editing rig, then get 4x 8GB and leave expansion room.
  • Check out the 1TB Crucial MX100, it's going for a nice price
  • ASRock X99 Fatal1ty Professional could go for a similar price. It has moar features. Flash it with an X99 OC Formula BIOS, and you'll get some epic voltage/clock limits to play around with
  • Antec HCP Pt 1300W is a nice juice box
  • Assuming you get cheaper 16 GB memory, transfer the money saved to 2x R9 290X. They're as cheap as $450 in some markets.
  • Obsidian 900D is obscenely big, and much of that room will end up vacant, if you don't have a multi-loop water cooling setup. Consider 800D, or a classy Lian-Li.

Ok downgraded the RAM to 4v4GB.

Do the 2011 socket coolers work with the 2011-3 sockets?

Unfortunately I already have the PSU and GPUs from my previous PC so I can't change those. The website I use only sells the 900D case now.

Switched to the Fatality* mobo. Price is overall lower now :)

Build updated. Some parts were removed from the site so I had to readjust.

+ 2 R9 290 non-x overclocked
+ the 1300WPSU

Yes, LGA2011 coolers/mounts work on LGA2011v3.

Call me provincial, but I wouldn't pay 429 bucks for a case. It's just me. I'd rather get something more basic and buy a better cooler or better quality fans or just save those money all together from the build.

Although I don't regret my 900D purchase even though when it was all said and done I paid roughly 279 for it.

I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN

I would recommend switching to something other than the 900D when your preferred vendor has other options in stock. I would suggest the Phanteks Enthoo Primo if you have the option, as it's smaller, cheaper, and can still fit a boat load of hardware. If you run on air, you have bottom intakes that will blow air straight up to your GPUs, and if you go water, you can fit up to 5 rads at once (I've spent too much time planning my Enthoo Primo build XD).

You don't need 1300W for a pair of 290's in any way, shape or form. You can get an HX750i and it'd easily run it.

I'd opt for an Asus board for the board.

You can get an MX100 but keep in mind that 850 Pro is a better SSD.

Hey mate !

Very nice line up of parts there... If you are going to be using your computer mostly for gaming, you could save yourself a bucket load of money and go with a 4790k and Z97 board and DDR3 Ram like the G SKill Trident 2400MHz 16GB for around $220. Spend what you will save on upgrading to 2x 290x's rather than the 290's.

That's where you're going to net those fps gains the most. Hell, do what makes you happy, just trying to "keep it real" and point out that for gamers, it's not really going to give you the return on investment. All the best though and have fun.

EDIT. Just looked at your current specs. DOH !

Peace man.

"We'll be calculating the GPU power consumption here, not the total PC power consumption."

An 800w psu is pushing it, and you are recommending a 750w...I'm sorry but I've heard too much crap from you over the past few days about power supplies.

Not to mention I've got 2 290s myself and know a couple people here running Titans...800ws aint handling the Titans properly so please don't misinform the members of this forum.

Here's another quote from that article which I've read at least 30 times already.
"If you are going to overclock GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina"

Please read what you post, especially when you are trying to throw shade in someones direction.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o

Please read what you post, especially when you are trying to throw shade in someones direction.

just in case :

this is not only the gpu's ... but as written full system wattage ... so yeah ...
  1. System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 603W

also my current system if i go CFX :

Minimum PSU Wattage:639 W
Recommended
PSU Wattage:
*

so yeah a 750w might be good without OC but safe side would be a 800/850w

wtf Titans not handled by a 800? wow ... i hope its not only 1 Titan... because i would feel weird that my whole setup is stable on a 650w (not CFX ofc) (i also ran a Xeon E3-1275V2 + 2 GTX 580 Matrix Platinum @850/1200 on a In Win Desert Fox 700w 80+ gold)

this is the GPU's consumption
  1. Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 493 Watts
you did misread indeed ... the chart is "GPU consumption only" but not the values mentioned before the chart itself.

Ok for all you people that commented on which PSU he should get read this first:
Unfortunately I already have the PSU and GPUs from my previous PC so I can't change those.

yea a 750w may hold the cards but while gaming you are pushing the PSU to its max wattage and that is terrible on longevity! I would atleast got 850w+ just for ease of mind when it came to peak loads.

Yeah, I would go with at least 850 watt PSU. The HX750i suggested by X71200 only has 3 x 6+2 connectors. A Seasonic 850 watt Gold rated has 4 x 6+2 connectors and it's cheaper. True it's not Platinum rated but Gold is still damn good on efficiency.

Edit: I missed the part about already owns PSU.
