Need advice on a lappy

Hi there,

Im looking forward to buying myself a lappy. My budget is around 800-900$. As lappy territory is very new to me I'm seeking your advice on what would be great value for money. The screen size doesnt have to be larger than 16" even less than that is fine as long as it has satisfactory performance as in being able to play some games. Now im not looking for a gaming laptop, just something that can play games decently.

This lappy will be my lifeline when I'm away from my main pc and I want it to have the best performance available for the price

What do you guys recommend ? all suggestions are welcome

There are numerous choices..but it all depends on what u want. In a generalized build for performance, I would ,


Go for a Core 2 Duo mobile (Centrino2 Tech.) CPU with decent clock speed of 2GHz or more.
Go for a min of 4 GB RAM with speed of 800MHz or more (presuming DDR2) DDR2 costs less now
Go for a lappy with a dedicated GPU on it (even though u don't game) I have noticed sluggish performance on those with on-board graphics with shared video memory. Video memory type, amount and speed is ur choice and depends whether u game or not.

All other features tend to be common on most builds unless they feature SSD (which gives u super performance...but at high price).

seems to be a good deal considering the 4650 in it which should provide sufficient fps in cod4 promod.

Any ideas on it ?

According to Notebookcheck the 130 is similar to the 9600M GT.
