You can delete that Millenium partition on the hard drive when Installing XP. It will say save XP on open partition, write over existing partition, or you can click delete, it will say "delete this partition", then press "L" to delete the partition.

In addition, how do you wipe out everything on a hard drive like when you are reformatting?

Well, when you install XP, it'll ask you what partition you want to install on. One partition will be the large one where Windows Millenium will be. You have a few options: Press C, creat a partition on empty space "dual-booting",Press C, create partition on existing partition which is basically deleting Windows Millenium and installing XP on it, or the best one, press Del. to clear the hard drive, then it'll tell you to press ENTER if you want to continue with the deletion, then Press L to delete and clear the hard drive, then install XP from there. it's not gonna go exactly what I said, but similar.

Deleting the partition then recreating one will effectivly erase everything, for your needs. :)
