I have a laptop 80Gb HDD but there is some sort of error on it.
Checkdisk (chkdsk) runs automatically at startup but failes to run due to an "unspecified error" and continues to the login screen.
I've tried to use HDD disk repair tools (Tuneup Diskdoctor and Sytem Mechanic Disk Doctor) but both say the error needs to be fixed at startup and exectly the same thing occurs as above when I reboot.

My ruddy sister (11) caused this error, goodness knows how but it means she refuses to tell me what she was doing with it so I don't know how it occured.

She often tries to shut the computer down very fast by manically pressing the power button etc when she knows I'm coming home, as she's not allowed on it after the multiple Trojans in her account. Could this have caused the error?

There are no viruses to my knowledge anymore and the last one was cleaned up a while ago. I scan with a hell of a lot o things so don't think it can be that.

I have booted up in safe mode with cmd but the chkdsk still needs to repair at startup and as usual, the same thing happens.

Can someone help me please, as my defraggers refuse to operate as there is a scheduled checkdisk. I move and use a lot of 350mb+ files V. OFTEN so this is of major concern! I don't wnat my laptop to turn into a slow fragmented dinosaur.
