need help

Im having difficulty getting my sound card to be detected in windows 7 64bit.

Check my specs. Unfortunately the card has to sit in the last pcie slot which configs for 8x due to gpu being so huge.

Any ideas?

Are you seeing a sound device labeled "High Definition Audio Device" in Device Manager? If so, follow this guide.

Most usually, the thing just doesn't sit well in the slot, your case is bent. Try without screwing on etc things... I had most ridiculous things in my life, with my old X-Fi (RIP)

Seconds, BIOS... or it doesn't like that slot, because of implementation, PCIE switches, route(north bridge or PCH as it changes memory mappings and timings).

Just check up the HDA devices by properties and vendor ID. Vendor Id: 0x1102 is creative. For the sake of science, flip the videocard a bit lower and the card in the first slot maybe?

Way the mobo is configured is the top peg slot is 16x then a 1x slot then a 4x slot then another 16x slot (8/16), then a pci slot then a 8x slot.

The gc covers up the 1x and 4x slot. I moved the sc from the bottom slot to the (8/16 slot) windows didnt say anything about hw detection.

I thought about that. I did install those drivers the isc is realtec 892, in bios it says sb azalia hd.

SET DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1
then see if it lists in the device manager

else get your self some scotch tape
and do this

this will physically force the SPD to detect and configure it as 8x
it must be scotch tape duct,masking,electrical won't work its too thick it will jam the slot and wreak it

Already enabled that registry entry.I do not have ts. I see hda and hda one grayed out the other not both have same Ven of 1002.

The card is a 1x device... was thinking the pcie slots would drop back in speed

I verified one of the 1002 devices being the Audio on the gpu.

Pretty frustrating. Everything else is working. Ill try to remove the audio drivers from both the amd and onboard and see what happens.

CHECK AIDIA64
if its not showing up in AIDA64 then drivers aren't gonna do shit for you

This may sound like a dumb question but why even use an add-on sound card? The onboard sound on 990fx boards is outstanding as it is and even supports 7.1 channel audio at 108dB

Tryin 1 last item. If w7 doesnt detect as new device im gonna get it to a shop.

Scratch that thanks for the time. The card is undetectible (possibly doa). Im gonna get it to a shop for testing.

OK then I'll help. Exactly which slot do you have your GPU in, because on these boards both the first and third PCIe slots are x16 and the 2nd and 4th are x8. If the issue is running the Soundcard in an x16 slot vs an x8 one. There should be enough space to either fit it in the 3rd slot, or if there isn't, move the GPU down to the 3rd slot, and put the soundcard in the first slot. Then make sure there are no IRQ conflicts.

The gpu being a monster. It sits in the first PEG (16x slot at the top. It blocks the 1x and 4x slot) the next slot that is available is the next 16x slot which is 16x or 8x bandwidth depending on if the last pcie slot at the bottom is occupied or not. I tried the card in both the 16x and the bottom pcie slot. No dice. So im taking it in for a test. If it fails there that tells me the sc is shot snd i need to rma it.

Either way I took the SC to 2 known machines. and whatdoya know, never came up. Wish me luck with Creative Labs RMA Process
