trying to fix a friend's laptop and I'm trying to (full) format the HDD due to a virus. I was gonna try using XP setup's one but it's not detecting the HDD at all.

Is there any program I can run from DOS just to wipe the HDD?

    Many thanks :)

A:/ format X: (Enter) :) I think you can do it from an old school normal boot disk. (Replacing X: with your drive letter)

Sure just copy the normal bootfiles to a cd instead of floppy and set your bios to boot to cd

Let me know if you need some Boot files. I have a USB Drive image you can copy and paste.
