Need some monitor guides

Ok. I know what's DVI, but i would want a HDMI/HDCP monitor to run with. What's with the DVI-D? It says it's HDCP compatible but i still see it as just DVI. Meh..... Running a 2900XT.

Choosing between these two monitors
(The 22' screen)

Yes i know people will say get the 22' it has more screen but what i wanna know is about HDMI/HDCP. So please please please nothing about telling me which monitor to get.

Well look where i live. I dont have things like newegg or whatever. Also what i want is to view HD on my monitor but i don't know which monitor that has it. It does says DVI-D digital (with HDCP). I'm not a fan type so don't tell me its DELL SO DONT GeT IT or crap. Thanks.

LOL, okies just saying sorry didn't realize you live in Singapore. Anyway i think newegg ships worldwide, i mearly was giving a cheaper better alternative or so i thought. Sorry i don't know a whole lot about HDMI or HDCP, i guess ill look into though!

Well sure. Yes it does ship but i would have to pay the expenses. Somemore its in SGD$399. USD costs 1.5 more then SGD. So its like 250USD+ for that monitor.

AsphyxiA...the Dell monitors rock, bit overpriced if you buy them direct though. Try and find an e-tailer, or a local store that ships to your location.

I personally would go with 1680 x 1050, but that's because I use the full vertical of my 1280x1024 monitor and couldn't go back to less. Just be aware that it will push your graphics card more when gaming.

For hdcp, I would think you could use something like this:

I use it on my tv/monitor (so PC VGA is through HDMI port), but I don't have an hdcp capable gfx card.
With a 2900 I think you would plug the hdmi into the card, and the dvi into the monitor

Ah i see...... So it's a DVI-D to my monitor (DVI-D is acutally HDMI viewer?) and it connects to my gpu with a HDMI cable?

DVI and HDMI are essentially the same, except the form factor is different...although HDCP is supposed to have audio?

But yeah, your 2900 should have a HDMI port, with the cable I spec'd, you would plug the hdmi into you GFX, and the dvi into the monitor. But I don't think HDCP audio is supported in that configuration...

Just searched my gpu cables. I do have a DVi-HDMI connector. It links to my Gpu dvi slot and connects from a hdmi cable. Which means i need a HDMI cable to connect to the DVI-HDMI and the DVI on my monitor?

Ok first off, Dell is a high end monitor.
Yes they are overpriced however, they have the best return policy and are one of the best LCD makers.
A Dell Ultrasharp will kick that BenQs ass (dont get me wrong BenQ makes great monitors).

Second, the Dell Entry level and Dell UltraSharp are two completely different monitors.
The Entry level monitor (they start with an E at the beginning of the name) uses a TN panel which means when you move your head the colors become darker or lighter (it is based upon the viewing angle).
The Dell UltraSharp uses either a SIPS or MVA Panel. Which are both have sharper colors and better viewing angles.
Currently all 22" monitors use TN panels and just dont have as great of quality as MVA or SIPS panels do.

I currently own a 20.1" Dell Entry Level monitor, 17" Sony LCD and the Viewsonic VX2025VM
The Dell is great but not as good as the other 2 since it uses a TN panel.

My suggestion is to go for quality over quantity.
Therefore get the better 20.1" monitor (the Dell Ultrasharp).
These monitors are well worth the money and you will not be dissappointed.

Nice guide there. But problem is how the heck can i tell if my monitor is providing me pictures in HD? As in cripsier images?

i figured since the BenQ had such a better contrast ratio, better blacks, and since it had the same refresh and such it would be the better choice. I've always had great success with BenQ monitors, even though i use a Samsung CRT right now
Also, those Dell monitiors do seem a bit pricey for what they are, but are they really worth the money?

If you want a better picture go with the UltraSharp.
They use the better panels than both the BenQ and the Entry level Dell.
Its not just about Brightness, sharpness, etc.
Its also about the panel.

Anyway is there any difference if i turn my GPU to DVI-HDMI connector, and insert a HDMI-DVI connecter. Then to my monitor. Will i have better picture qualities or only on HD videos?

E.G

GPU-->DVI Connector-->DVI-HDMI-->HDMI-DVI Cable-->DVI to DVI-Connector on monitor
