The thing is, we don't know. :shadedshu
If they are going to slap cheap ass coolers on the V2, would you think they will stop there?
Or will they replace the softmod able VRMs and slap some cheap stuff on there? :ohwell:

I think ASUS did the same to the V2... I cant change voltage on my card. **(turned out to be a driver issue that wouldn't let the program change voltage)**

maybe ,maybe not .VTX is owned by powercolor and powercolor has new models with ver 2.0 coolers in product line. It may be or may not be vtx ,vtx did not put sticker to reference cards (for now) but its box has vtx logo and ruby :) .
I actually prefer ver 2.0 coolers ,easy to clean .

Well I just got one of the new ASUS 5770s... Core got to about 975 with the voltage tweak, but the memory only got to about 1325mhz.... so not sure how that really compares to others.

Compared to my 4850 though the performance is good :)

Dumb question, but i looked online at bb.com and didn't see anything.

I'm going to be about 10 minutes from a Best Buy tomorrow.. has anyone seen any 5770's in-store?

Not that I know of. I checked Saturday at best buy and wal-mart. The only place you probably have a chance at finding on is CompUSA if you happen to be near one.
    shevanel says thanks.

there is actually a dozen compusa's around here and one right down the street from that best buy I was talking about.. I'll check out their site.

compusa has them in stock online but it doesnt show any info about local... maybe I'll call them tomorrow and ask.. probably the only way to know.

they have them listed for $179.. not too bad for local pickup.. i'd like to be able to score one tomorrow.

edit: i called the 24/7 line and the rep told me that the item is only available online incase anyone else was curious.

What do you guys think the max voltage for the HD5770 is?

During a quick stress run at 1.25V I managed to nab this.. ran Furmark for 10m and no crash...

Well the ASUS utility maxes out somewhere around 1.35 I think, so I would definitely not go past that.

I believe the only difference between everybody's v1 and v2 is just the heatsink Moonpig. It is supposed to be quieter, and yes cheaper. It is a good oem cooler. 47% speed is not audible with my setup, 52% makes a little noise. After that it gets a little loud, but no hoover sound like the old 3870 or 1900's I had. I done the Fur, Vantage, Lightsmark benchies with a mild 890/1225 oc and it blows the 3870 away in performance and runs cool. I am sure I could easily get it over 900, but fine with it where it is..... for now.

v2 baby. I just got done with about 30 minutes of L4D2; the max temp Afterburner recorded was 56C. This was at stock clocks. I'm pretty stoked about how this card runs.

how well is the card performing for games such as GRID and L4D2?

I pulled the trigger on a 5770 tonight... maybe crossfire is in my future!?

Grid was smooth as butter; didn't run FRAPS but not a stuter in sight at max settings 1680x1050. With low temps and nice looking games I'm super stoked about this card. Ill run more in depth stuff and post some screenies tomorrow.
    shevanel says thanks.

I run 1440x900 (or whatever it is) and popped in MoW to replay, not a straining game, but running 186-200fps with graphics on the max. That is way beyond the 3870 even with the volt mod.

If it is the new type cooler you bough the same card as me shev, it is a good buy, I ended up getting a Bing 10% back for $144.

i pulled newegg up on the chat line and asked about getting my shipping method switched since I ordered yesterday, paid for overnight shipping and the $2.99 rush and the item hasnt shipped..

All I wanted to do was get the $2.99 back and change shipping to 3 day but since it was already charged they couldnt. I wasn't trying to milk newegg for anything but they ended up giving me a $50 credit. Newegg :rockout:

Yeah, Newegg tries to make things right! That $50 credit is an awesome thing congrats! I usually have anything from them on the second day, except for that little period of time they used DHL.

L4D2 plays great 1680x1050 max, with a Athlon II x4. Never dropped below 60 fps. Can try out a few other things if people want. The egg shaped cooler works great, core never went over 54 while playing.
