Isn't this patch also supposed to make it so you don't need the cd to play? i have had to use a no-cd thing since i had the nforce 590 board a few months ago, cause for some reason it wouldn't accept the fact that the disc is in the drive. though, i haven't tried lately with my new(er) setup, it would still be nice to not need the disk in the drive. Also funny, because i too just reinstalled this last week, been craving some titan mode action.

BF2142 is cheap these days. With this new patch, they should be giving away Northern Strike, like they gave away Euro Forces and Armored Fury for BF2. I wouldn't be surprised if you found a copy somewhere for $10.

I hope they fix the in-game BFHQ thing. Clicking on badges/ribbons in-game = crash. Gotta use some 3rd party website to check stats... not fun.

It wont be getting rid of the key itself, but it supposedly (last i checked) is going to remove the cd check, that makes the computer check if the game disc is inserted, in order to play. You will still need a key to play online.

They removed the cd-check with the latest version of BF2 as well. Currently, I get around putting the 2142 disc in by using an image and mounting with Alcohol 52%.

I'm sure it still buggy as. It's always been like that but Titan mode is the best game mode in the history of battlefield. People can say what the want about BF2142 but titan mode is THE most fun I've ever had in an online shooter.

All the Northern Strike maps FREE for all Battlefield 2142 players
Operation Blue Pearl – Supply Lines by Björn Sundell and Jason Brice
Strike at Karkand 2142 – Conquest by Jason Brice
Molokai – Titan by Jason Brice
Yellow Knife – Supply Lines by Jason Brice

I played it a few weeks ago when they had an open beta weekend. The Titan map Molokai was my favorite, great map.

Yea this game is diverse and well balanced. Lots of guns, not TOO many, but lots of utility like cloaking and EMP mines. Sooooo tempted to reinstall, but hate disk hassle.
