Everything looks good. I'd recommend a couple of minor changes. One, get AC MX-2 instead of the Tuniq TIM. Get yourself a bolth through kit for the Xig cooler. You'll be MUCH happier. Oh, and 6 GB of memory is probably overkill, and will limit your OC ability.

just one set of 4 gig is enough. You don't need to fill all the slots up.

2x2gb is a better choice than 4x1gb? (i guess it would be if i HAD to upgrade down the road)

Thanks

Does Newegg carry the bolt kit? i did a quick search for HDT-S1283 and didnt see any other matched other than the cooler itself.

make sure you get the retention bracket for the xigmatek. As I understand it, you have to buy the retention bracket seperately.

Looks good, but i would stick with just 4gb of ram. 2gb would be just as good, could get better oc out. I can't oc hardly any with 6gb. But 4gb I can alittle, i'm just limited how far my phenom will go.

Would you guys suggest me raid 0 the hard drives, or by one raptor? i've never installed raid before, but from what i hear, it isnt too tricky. Also, would you suggest CF on two 4870's down the road, or just wait a tad longer for the 4870x2 since its only like a week away from being able to be bought?

Don't even bother with RAID. To many problems. The increase is nice, but not worth the trouble. I would wait on the 4870x2. It's going be a badass card!!

I say go with the Arctic Cooling MX-2, best stuff out there if you ask me (of course the IC Diamond and the Cool Laboratories Liquid stuff is better though). Might want to get a proc for this, as I didnt see one on the newegg sheet. I like my OCZ Equalizer Gaming mouse I got in, but that Razer is awesome. PErhaps go with the logitech g11 kb or maybe Razers Tarantula? Everything else is nice. Are you going to get an LCD or do you have one?

I have a QX6850 on order already through my retailedge program, got it for under $250. I have an LCD right now, its a three year old dell 24 inch. i am entertaining the idea for a three monitor setup, with three new dell 22 or 24 inch screens, but that is later down the line. when i get this thing on deck i'll be moving my current rig to my 65 inch tv and using the new machine on the old dell for the time being.

EDIT: i do know i would need another vid. card for this

I've heard that Xigmatek will send you a retention bracket if you call them. They'll ask for your UPC, of course. The last I heard they were still doing this a two weeks or so ago.

So i've recieved my qx6850 from intel the other day, and just started ordering my parts from newegg. gonna be in small doses, seeing as how the paycheck is a little tight. can scratch the P5Q Pro and my keyboard and mouse off the list. i went with the diamondback 3g as was suggested. good call. Any other thoughts before i spend more money?

Thanks

Got my MB, keyboard and mouse in from the Egg. I love how they ship orders. boxxed everything in the same box, surrounded by foam peanuts. good stuff. Ive got about $700 to burn right now on my next order, what should i grab next? based on prices, deals and rebates and all?

Thanks for the input

It doesn't matter what you get next. It's finished when it's finished. Just get the things out of the way that you think you should do first (Anything that goes out of stock a lot, might be discontinued, etc) or to make it functional as soon as possible. That's how I've always done it. =P

Ok so i got the essential gear i need to start building my rig. what are some of the things i need to do right off the bat to ensure all my hardware is working properly. i just want to rule out any reasons for me to have to RMA faulty gear.

Thanks
